My name is Matti Anttila. I am a Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher.

I had financial and family challenges (like many of us do). My anger kept coming to the surface. I don’t imagine I was all that much fun to be around.

After a few weeks of coming to Laughter Yoga sessions, the anger passed.

Dr. Madan Kataria is the founder of Laughter Yoga. I asked him about this anger.

He explained that in India, when there is a death, family members cry and wail and let out the grief. In our western society, we tend to hold it in.

And where we hold it in is the diaphragm. By exercising the diaphragm in Laughter Yoga, those “trapped emotions” released. After a few weeks, no more anger the day after a laughter session.

Not only that, other “avenues to joy” opened up.


Got in Touch with Intuition

Not to be taken lightly. Intuition can keep us away from danger at times.

Intuition also can lead us to opportunities.

Intuition can help solve sticky problems. I can’t count the number of times my intuition came to my rescue.  “Elegant solutions to knotty challenges” just bubbled up from some unknown depth within me. This all since my Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher training.


More Energy

Yes I still get colds and such. However, at age 69, my energy is nothing short of cool. When I go to visit my friend with MS on Friday nights, I “float” up four flights of stairs. And it is a joy. (There is no joy in elevators.)

Sidebar: “Floating up stairs” is a skill set. I can teach it to you if you want.


Relieve Stress

Stress is actually a good thing. The “fight or flight” hormones exist to protect us from danger. They are useful when we need to face up to a challenge or flee from danger.

Stress hormones become our enemy when they are always present. And that is where many of us find ourselves in the modern world.

Laughter Yoga is a safe, effective and fun way to release stress. Laughter actually puts us in the same state as meditation. It’s a delightful way to get into “state” and release the production of cortisol and such.


Giving is THE secret

When we give from the heart with no expectation of return, that is when we feel truly blessed.

Helping others is another way of putting it.

There is a deep joy, satisfaction and warmth we feel when we help others. This is where Laughter Yoga Leading comes in.

As a Certified Laughter Yoga Leader, you will be able to help others “tune in” to their inner joy.

You will help them “plug in” to a deep well of energy.

In the process, you get more energy and joy. It is a virtuous cycle. The more you give, the more energy you have to give more.

Secondly, when you create your own non-profit club, you may be able to recover your fee in short order.

When I started as a Certified Laughter Yoga Leader, I recovered my fee in a a few months. Laughter Yoga Clubs are non-profit. They are usually free or by donation. I suggested a donation of $5- $15. (Compare that to Yoga classes which can run up to $20 per session or more).

Further, if you choose to make Laughter Yoga a business, you can create an ongoing income.

I have had numerous paid sessions with businesses and with non-profits. Vancouver Island University once paid me $750 for three sessions in one day.

At any rate, it’s hard to put a dollar value on the increased level of joy and energy, not to mention health.

Laughter helps to modulate the immune function. Imagine fewer days off this “flu season.”  🙂

Working hard to age 65, retiring exhausted and then dying shortly thereafter was not an appealing career path.

Thus, I pursued a number of opportunities as they came up: Promoting rock and roll performances, driving taxi, Disc Jockey, radio reporter and talk show host.

I have owned a bakery and restaurant, been a financial planner, baby photographer and most recently a consultant.

My most passionate interest is in health, fitness, longevity and human potential.
