Perfectionist Worrier to Imperfect Warrior – Mastery Newsletter August 23, 2017

So I said to my friend: “I have realized I am a perfectionist and I worry too much.”


His response: “You just figured that out?”




Yes. It took a lifetime to admit it to myself.


The perfectionist tendency is insidious. It snuck in. Or…it’s a case of “The fish is the last to know about water.”


I have been living with it all my life. So it was hard to notice how much it was operating in my life.


As for the worry part…


I guess I picked it up from the money worries my parents had. Kind of by osmosis.


What to do about it?


Awareness. Just noticing that these two tendencies are there. Noticing when they come up.


That is helping a lot.


Also, bringing the energy of the warrior to the front.


The word “warrior” might bring up negative connotations for some.


I am talking about the warrior who mercilessly goes inside to root out negative habits and thought patterns.


Just being willing to face my foibles.


That makes for a warrior. An imperfect one to be sure.


But then, we are all imperfect. Being willing to accept I am imperfect.


Working toward perfection knowing full well I will never reach it.


Meditation helps to open up the awareness.


Releasing money worries exercise helps to relieve worry.


Try it for yourself.


Congratulations. You are now a Warrior.
