Energy Comes From Feeling Good. Mastery Newsletter March 10, 2026

Written by joyenergyandhealth on . Posted in Mastery Newsletter

Words of wisdom from Dr. Shigeaki Hinohara…who lived to age 105:

Energy comes from feeling good, not from food or sleep.”

What actions should I take to plug into more energy in life?

If the good doctor is right (and he did live to age 105), then the answer is obvious, is it not?

Do what makes me feel good.

Easier said than done?

Perhaps following Dr. Hinohara’s example may give us more clues…

“He will be remembered with the words that his own father spoke to him: ‘Have big visions and put such visions into reality with courage. The visions may not be achieved while you are alive, but do not forget to be adventurous. Then you will be victorious.”

Life, like anything, requires practice. That is something that this 105-year-old Japanese doctor vouched for in his life.

His goal before his death was to share with you what he learned so that you can learn how to live longer and be happy.

At a glance:

1. Healthy eating

“All people who live long — regardless of nationality, race or gender — share one thing in common: None are overweight.[2]”

2. Plan ahead

Find things that excite you and put them into your schedule to give yourself something to look forward to.

3. “Retiring” doesn’t mean you stop doing what you love

“There is no need to ever retire, but if one must, it should be a lot later than 65”

4. Share what you know

“I give 150 lectures a year, some for 100 elementary-school children, others for 4,500 business people. I usually speak for 60 to 90 minutes, standing, to stay strong.”

Knowledge is power. Use what you have learned from your experiences to teach other people and contribute to society in a positive way.

5. There’s more to healing than science

“I think music and animal therapy can help more than most doctors imagine.”

Coming from the mouth of a doctor: “Science alone can’t heal everything.”

6. Take the stairs and carry your own stuff

Keeping your body strong will help to also keep your mind strong as you age. Hinohara reported that he would take the stairs two at a time to get his muscles moving. If this 105-year-old man could do it, then you can too!

7. Find inspiration

“My inspiration is Robert Browning’s poem “Abt Vogler.” It encourages us to make big art, not small scribbles.”

8. Heal pain with fun

“Pain is mysterious, and having fun is the best way to forget it.”

9. Don’t be crazy about amassing material things.

Hinohara knew more than anyone that you can’t take material things with you when you die. Don’t waste your life attempting to accumulate ‘things’. Instead, use your time and money to accumulate experiences.

10. Find a role model

Hinohara’s role model was his father, a man who traveled to America to study. Find your role model and aim to achieve even more than they could ever do. When you feel stuck, ask yourself what your role model would do in the same situation.

In 2017,  Dr. Shigeaki Hinohara died at the age of 105 of a respiratory failure[3]. He will be remembered for all of the accomplishments that he had in his long life, and how he was able to inspire and encourage others with his words. He has gifted us with knowledge acquired over 105 years, through wars, famine, smiles, and tears, so that we may take his wisdom, and use it to better our own lives.

He will be remembered with the words that his own father spoke to him: “Have big visions and put such visions into reality with courage. The visions may not be achieved while you are alive, but do not forget to be adventurous. Then you will be victorious[3].”

The future is already here. It just hasn’t knocked on your door yet.”

Some say AI will destroy humans.

But are there benefits?

This author is in the deep end and shows us what he has experienced so far…

Quotes from this article:

But it’s time now. Not in an “eventually we should talk about this” way. In a “this is happening right now and I need you to understand it” way.

We’re not making predictions. We’re telling you what already occurred in our own jobs, and warning you that you’re next.

I am no longer needed for the actual technical work of my job. I describe what I want built, in plain English, and it just… appears. Not a rough draft I need to fix. The finished thing. I tell the AI what I want, walk away from my computer for four hours, and come back to find the work done. Done well, done better than I would have done it myself, with no corrections needed.

Let me give you an example so you can understand what this actually looks like in practice. I’ll tell the AI: “I want to build this app. Here’s what it should do, here’s roughly what it should look like. Figure out the user flow, the design, all of it.” And it does. It writes tens of thousands of lines of code. Then, and this is the part that would have been unthinkable a year ago, it opens the app itself. It clicks through the buttons. It tests the features. It uses the app the way a person would. If it doesn’t like how something looks or feels, it goes back and changes it, on its own. It iterates, like a developer would, fixing and refining until it’s satisfied. Only once it has decided the app meets its own standards does it come back to me and say: “It’s ready for you to test.” And when I test it, it’s usually perfect.

I’m not exaggerating. That is what my Monday looked like this week.

“does my job better than I do”, is the experience everyone else is about to have.

If you haven’t tried AI in the last few months, what exists today would be unrecognizable to you.

Each generation helps build the next, which is smarter, which builds the next faster, which is smarter still. The researchers call this an intelligence explosion. And the people who would know — the ones building it — believe the process has already started.

This is different from every previous wave of automation, and I need you to understand why. AI isn’t replacing one specific skill. It’s a general substitute for cognitive work. It gets better at everything simultaneously. When factories automated, a displaced worker could retrain as an office worker. When the internet disrupted retail, workers moved into logistics or services. But AI doesn’t leave a convenient gap to move into. Whatever you retrain for, it’s improving at that too.

What you should actually do

Start using AI seriously, not just as a search engine.

Second, and more important: don’t just ask it quick questions. That’s the mistake most people make. They treat it like Google and then wonder what the fuss is about. Instead, push it into your actual work.

This might be the most important year of your career. Work accordingly. I don’t say that to stress you out. I say it because right now, there is a brief window where most people at most companies are still ignoring this.

Your dreams just got a lot closer. I’ve spent most of this section talking about threats, so let me talk about the other side, because it’s just as real. If you’ve ever wanted to build something but didn’t have the technical skills or the money to hire someone, that barrier is largely gone. You can describe an app to AI and have a working version in an hour. I’m not exaggerating. I do this regularly.

Whatever you’ve been putting off because it felt too hard or too expensive or too far outside your expertise: try it. Pursue the things you’re passionate about. You never know where they’ll lead. And in a world where the old career paths are getting disrupted, the person who spent a year building something they love might end up better positioned than the person who spent that year clinging to a job description.

Build the habit of adapting. This is maybe the most important one. The specific tools don’t matter as much as the muscle of learning new ones quickly. AI is going to keep changing, and fast. The models that exist today will be obsolete in a year. The workflows people build now will need to be rebuilt. The people who come out of this well won’t be the ones who mastered one tool. They’ll be the ones who got comfortable with the pace of change itself

The upside, if we get it right, is staggering. AI could compress a century of medical research into a decade. Cancer, Alzheimer’s, infectious disease, aging itself… these researchers genuinely believe these are solvable within our lifetimes.

The people building this technology are simultaneously more excited and more frightened than anyone else on the planet. They believe it’s too powerful to stop and too important to abandon. Whether that’s wisdom or rationalization, I don’t know.

What I know

I know this isn’t a fad. The technology works, it improves predictably, and the richest institutions in history are committing trillions to it.

I know the next two to five years are going to be disorienting in ways most people aren’t prepared for. This is already happening in my world. It’s coming to yours.

I know the people who will come out of this best are the ones who start engaging now — not with fear, but with curiosity and a sense of urgency.

And I know that you deserve to hear this from someone who cares about you, not from a headline six months from now when it’s too late to get ahead of it.

We’re past the point where this is an interesting dinner conversation about the future. The future is already here. It just hasn’t knocked on your door yet.

THE ARTICLE IN FULL:

AI Warning: Something Big Is Happening

by Matt Shumer February 11th, 2026 8:29 AM

Dario Amodei, who is probably the most safety-focused CEO in the AI industry, has publicly predicted that AI will eliminate 50% of entry-level white-collar jobs within one to five years. And many people in the industry think he’s being conservative.

A lot of people find comfort in the idea that certain things are safe. That AI can handle the grunt work but can’t replace human judgment, creativity, strategic thinking, empathy. I used to say this too. I’m not sure I believe it anymore.

Think back to February 2020.

If you were paying close attention, you might have noticed a few people talking about a virus spreading overseas. But most of us weren’t paying close attention. The stock market was doing great, your kids were in school, you were going to restaurants and shaking hands and planning trips. If someone told you they were stockpiling toilet paper you would have thought they’d been spending too much time on a weird corner of the internet. Then, over the course of about three weeks, the entire world changed. Your office closed, your kids came home, and life rearranged itself into something you wouldn’t have believed if you’d described it to yourself a month earlier.

I think we’re in the “this seems overblown” phase of something much, much bigger than Covid.

I’ve spent six years building an AI startup and investing in the space. I live in this world. And I’m writing this for the people in my life who don’t… my family, my friends, the people I care about who keep asking me “so what’s the deal with AI?” and getting an answer that doesn’t do justice to what’s actually happening. I keep giving them the polite version. The cocktail-party version. Because the honest version sounds like I’ve lost my mind. And for a while, I told myself that was a good enough reason to keep what’s truly happening to myself. But the gap between what I’ve been saying and what is actually happening has gotten far too big. The people I care about deserve to hear what is coming, even if it sounds crazy.

I should be clear about something up front: even though I work in AI, I have almost no influence over what’s about to happen, and neither does the vast majority of the industry. The future is being shaped by a remarkably small number of people: a few hundred researchers at a handful of companies… OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind, and a few others. A single training run, managed by a small team over a few months, can produce an AI system that shifts the entire trajectory of the technology. Most of us who work in AI are building on top of foundations we didn’t lay. We’re watching this unfold the same as you… we just happen to be close enough to feel the ground shake first.

But it’s time now. Not in an “eventually we should talk about this” way. In a “this is happening right now and I need you to understand it” way.

I know this is real because it happened to me first

Here’s the thing nobody outside of tech quite understands yet: the reason so many people in the industry are sounding the alarm right now is because this already happened to us. We’re not making predictions. We’re telling you what already occurred in our own jobs, and warning you that you’re next.

For years, AI had been improving steadily. Big jumps here and there, but each big jump was spaced out enough that you could absorb them as they came. Then in 2025, new techniques for building these models unlocked a much faster pace of progress. And then it got even faster. And then faster again. Each new model wasn’t just better than the last… it was better by a wider margin, and the time between new model releases was shorter. I was using AI more and more, going back and forth with it less and less, watching it handle things I used to think required my expertise.

Then, on February 5th, two major AI labs released new models on the same day: GPT-5.3 Codex from OpenAI, and Opus 4.6 from Anthropic (the makers of Claude, one of the main competitors to ChatGPT). And something clicked. Not like a light switch… more like the moment you realize the water has been rising around you and is now at your chest.

A couple of months ago, I was going back and forth with the AI, guiding it, making edits. Now I just describe the outcome and leave.

But it was the model that was released last week (GPT-5.3 Codex) that shook me the most. It wasn’t just executing my instructions. It was making intelligent decisions. It had something that felt, for the first time, like judgment. Like taste. The inexplicable sense of knowing what the right call is that people always said AI would never have. This model has it, or something close enough that the distinction is starting not to matter.

I’ve always been early to adopt AI tools. But the last few months have shocked me. These new AI models aren’t incremental improvements. This is a different thing entirely.

And here’s why this matters to you, even if you don’t work in tech.

The AI labs made a deliberate choice. They focused on making AI great at writing code first… because building AI requires a lot of code. If AI can write that code, it can help build the next version of itself. A smarter version, which writes better code, which builds an even smarter version. Making AI great at coding was the strategy that unlocks everything else. That’s why they did it first. My job started changing before yours not because they were targeting software engineers… it was just a side effect of where they chose to aim first.

They’ve now done it. And they’re moving on to everything else.

The experience that tech workers have had over the past year, of watching AI go from “helpful tool” to “does my job better than I do”, is the experience everyone else is about to have. Law, finance, medicine, accounting, consulting, writing, design, analysis, customer service. Not in ten years. The people building these systems say one to five years. Some say less. And given what I’ve seen in just the last couple of months, I think “less” is more likely.

“But I tried AI and it wasn’t that good”

I hear this constantly. I understand it, because it used to be true.

If you tried ChatGPT in 2023 or early 2024 and thought “this makes stuff up” or “this isn’t that impressive”, you were right. Those early versions were genuinely limited. They hallucinated. They confidently said things that were nonsense.

That was two years ago. In AI time, that is ancient history.

The models available today are unrecognizable from what existed even six months ago. The debate about whether AI is “really getting better” or “hitting a wall” — which has been going on for over a year — is over. It’s done. Anyone still making that argument either hasn’t used the current models, has an incentive to downplay what’s happening, or is evaluating based on an experience from 2024 that is no longer relevant. I don’t say that to be dismissive. I say it because the gap between public perception and current reality is now enormous, and that gap is dangerous… because it’s preventing people from preparing.

Part of the problem is that most people are using the free version of AI tools. The free version is over a year behind what paying users have access to. Judging AI based on free-tier ChatGPT is like evaluating the state of smartphones by using a flip phone. The people paying for the best tools, and actually using them daily for real work, know what’s coming.

I think of my friend, who’s a lawyer. I keep telling him to try using AI at his firm, and he keeps finding reasons it won’t work. It’s not built for his specialty, it made an error when he tested it, it doesn’t understand the nuance of what he does. And I get it. But I’ve had partners at major law firms reach out to me for advice, because they’ve tried the current versions and they see where this is going. One of them, the managing partner at a large firm, spends hours every day using AI. He told me it’s like having a team of associates available instantly. He’s not using it because it’s a toy. He’s using it because it works. And he told me something that stuck with me: every couple of months, it gets significantly more capable for his work. He said if it stays on this trajectory, he expects it’ll be able to do most of what he does before long… and he’s a managing partner with decades of experience. He’s not panicking. But he’s paying very close attention.

The people who are ahead in their industries (the ones actually experimenting seriously) are not dismissing this. They’re blown away by what it can already do. And they’re positioning themselves accordingly.

How fast this is actually moving

Let me make the pace of improvement concrete, because I think this is the part that’s hardest to believe if you’re not watching it closely.

In 2022, AI couldn’t do basic arithmetic reliably. It would confidently tell you that 7 × 8 = 54.

By 2023, it could pass the bar exam.

By 2024, it could write working software and explain graduate-level science.

By late 2025, some of the best engineers in the world said they had handed over most of their coding work to AI.

On February 5th, 2026, new models arrived that made everything before them feel like a different era.

If you haven’t tried AI in the last few months, what exists today would be unrecognizable to you.

There’s an organization called METR that actually measures this with data. They track the length of real-world tasks (measured by how long they take a human expert) that a model can complete successfully end-to-end without human help. About a year ago, the answer was roughly ten minutes. Then it was an hour. Then several hours. The most recent measurement (Claude Opus 4.5, from November) showed the AI completing tasks that take a human expert nearly five hours. And that number is doubling approximately every seven months, with recent data suggesting it may be accelerating to as fast as every four months.

But even that measurement hasn’t been updated to include the models that just came out this week. In my experience using them, the jump is extremely significant. I expect the next update to METR’s graph to show another major leap.

If you extend the trend (and it’s held for years with no sign of flattening) we’re looking at AI that can work independently for days within the next year. Weeks within two. Month-long projects within three.

Amodei has said that AI models “substantially smarter than almost all humans at almost all tasks” are on track for 2026 or 2027.

Let that land for a second. If AI is smarter than most PhDs, do you really think it can’t do most office jobs?

Think about what that means for your work.

AI is now building the next AI

There’s one more thing happening that I think is the most important development and the least understood.

On February 5th, OpenAI released GPT-5.3 Codex. In the technical documentation, they included this:

“GPT-5.3-Codex is our first model that was instrumental in creating itself. The Codex team used early versions to debug its own training, manage its own deployment, and diagnose test results and evaluations.”

Read that again. The AI helped build itself.

This isn’t a prediction about what might happen someday. This is OpenAI telling you, right now, that the AI they just released was used to create itself. One of the main things that makes AI better is intelligence applied to AI development. And AI is now intelligent enough to meaningfully contribute to its own improvement.

Dario Amodei, the CEO of Anthropic, says AI is now writing “much of the code” at his company, and that the feedback loop between current AI and next-generation AI is “gathering steam month by month.” He says we may be “only 1–2 years away from a point where the current generation of AI autonomously builds the next.”

Each generation helps build the next, which is smarter, which builds the next faster, which is smarter still. The researchers call this an intelligence explosion. And the people who would know — the ones building it — believe the process has already started.

What this means for your job

I’m going to be direct with you because I think you deserve honesty more than comfort.

Dario Amodei, who is probably the most safety-focused CEO in the AI industry, has publicly predicted that AI will eliminate 50% of entry-level white-collar jobs within one to five years. And many people in the industry think he’s being conservative. Given what the latest models can do, the capability for massive disruption could be here by the end of this year. It’ll take some time to ripple through the economy, but the underlying ability is arriving now.

Let me give you a few specific examples to make this tangible… but I want to be clear that these are just examples. This list is not exhaustive. If your job isn’t mentioned here, that does not mean it’s safe. Almost all knowledge work is being affected.

Legal work. AI can already read contracts, summarize case law, draft briefs, and do legal research at a level that rivals junior associates. The managing partner I mentioned isn’t using AI because it’s fun. He’s using it because it’s outperforming his associates on many tasks.

Financial analysis. Building financial models, analyzing data, writing investment memos, generating reports. AI handles these competently and is improving fast.

Writing and content. Marketing copy, reports, journalism, technical writing. The quality has reached a point where many professionals can’t distinguish AI output from human work.

Software engineering. This is the field I know best. A year ago, AI could barely write a few lines of code without errors. Now it writes hundreds of thousands of lines that work correctly. Large parts of the job are already automated: not just simple tasks, but complex, multi-day projects. There will be far fewer programming roles in a few years than there are today.

Medical analysis. Reading scans, analyzing lab results, suggesting diagnoses, reviewing literature. AI is approaching or exceeding human performance in several areas.

Customer service. Genuinely capable AI agents… not the frustrating chatbots of five years ago… are being deployed now, handling complex multi-step problems.

A lot of people find comfort in the idea that certain things are safe. That AI can handle the grunt work but can’t replace human judgment, creativity, strategic thinking, empathy. I used to say this too. I’m not sure I believe it anymore.

The most recent AI models make decisions that feel like judgment. They show something that looked like taste: an intuitive sense of what the right call was, not just the technically correct one. A year ago that would have been unthinkable. My rule of thumb at this point is: if a model shows even a hint of a capability today, the next generation will be genuinely good at it. These things improve exponentially, not linearly.

Will AI replicate deep human empathy? Replace the trust built over years of a relationship? I don’t know. Maybe not. But I’ve already watched people begin relying on AI for emotional support, for advice, for companionship. That trend is only going to grow.

I think the honest answer is that nothing that can be done on a computer is safe in the medium term. If your job happens on a screen (if the core of what you do is reading, writing, analyzing, deciding, communicating through a keyboard) then AI is coming for significant parts of it. The timeline isn’t “someday.” It’s already started.

Eventually, robots will handle physical work too. They’re not quite there yet. But “not quite there yet” in AI terms has a way of becoming “here” faster than anyone expects.

What you should actually do

I’m not writing this to make you feel helpless. I’m writing this because I think the single biggest advantage you can have right now is simply being early. Early to understand it. Early to use it. Early to adapt.

Start using AI seriously, not just as a search engine. Sign up for the paid version of Claude or ChatGPT. It’s $20 a month. But two things matter right away. First: make sure you’re using the best model available, not just the default. These apps often default to a faster, dumber model. Dig into the settings or the model picker and select the most capable option. Right now that’s GPT-5.2 on ChatGPT or Claude Opus 4.6 on Claude, but it changes every couple of months. If you want to stay current on which model is best at any given time, you can follow me on X (@mattshumer_). I test every major release and share what’s actually worth using.

Second, and more important: don’t just ask it quick questions. That’s the mistake most people make. They treat it like Google and then wonder what the fuss is about. Instead, push it into your actual work. If you’re a lawyer, feed it a contract and ask it to find every clause that could hurt your client. If you’re in finance, give it a messy spreadsheet and ask it to build the model. If you’re a manager, paste in your team’s quarterly data and ask it to find the story. The people who are getting ahead aren’t using AI casually. They’re actively looking for ways to automate parts of their job that used to take hours. Start with the thing you spend the most time on and see what happens.

And don’t assume it can’t do something just because it seems too hard. Try it. If you’re a lawyer, don’t just use it for quick research questions. Give it an entire contract and ask it to draft a counterproposal. If you’re an accountant, don’t just ask it to explain a tax rule. Give it a client’s full return and see what it finds. The first attempt might not be perfect. That’s fine. Iterate. Rephrase what you asked. Give it more context. Try again. You might be shocked at what works. And here’s the thing to remember: if it even kind of works today, you can be almost certain that in six months it’ll do it near perfectly. The trajectory only goes one direction.

This might be the most important year of your career. Work accordingly. I don’t say that to stress you out. I say it because right now, there is a brief window where most people at most companies are still ignoring this. The person who walks into a meeting and says “I used AI to do this analysis in an hour instead of three days” is going to be the most valuable person in the room. Not eventually. Right now. Learn these tools. Get proficient. Demonstrate what’s possible. If you’re early enough, this is how you move up: by being the person who understands what’s coming and can show others how to navigate it. That window won’t stay open long. Once everyone figures it out, the advantage disappears.

Have no ego about it. The managing partner at that law firm isn’t too proud to spend hours a day with AI. He’s doing it specifically because he’s senior enough to understand what’s at stake. The people who will struggle most are the ones who refuse to engage: the ones who dismiss it as a fad, who feel that using AI diminishes their expertise, who assume their field is special and immune. It’s not. No field is.

Get your financial house in order. I’m not a financial advisor, and I’m not trying to scare you into anything drastic. But if you believe, even partially, that the next few years could bring real disruption to your industry, then basic financial resilience matters more than it did a year ago. Build up savings if you can. Be cautious about taking on new debt that assumes your current income is guaranteed. Think about whether your fixed expenses give you flexibility or lock you in. Give yourself options if things move faster than you expect.

Think about where you stand, and lean into what’s hardest to replace. Some things will take longer for AI to displace. Relationships and trust built over years. Work that requires physical presence. Roles with licensed accountability: roles where someone still has to sign off, take legal responsibility, stand in a courtroom. Industries with heavy regulatory hurdles, where adoption will be slowed by compliance, liability, and institutional inertia. None of these are permanent shields. But they buy time. And time, right now, is the most valuable thing you can have, as long as you use it to adapt, not to pretend this isn’t happening.

Rethink what you’re telling your kids. The standard playbook: get good grades, go to a good college, land a stable professional job. It points directly at the roles that are most exposed. I’m not saying education doesn’t matter. But the thing that will matter most for the next generation is learning how to work with these tools, and pursuing things they’re genuinely passionate about. Nobody knows exactly what the job market looks like in ten years. But the people most likely to thrive are the ones who are deeply curious, adaptable, and effective at using AI to do things they actually care about. Teach your kids to be builders and learners, not to optimize for a career path that might not exist by the time they graduate.

If you’ve always wanted to write a book but couldn’t find the time or struggled with the writing, you can work with AI to get it done. Want to learn a new skill? The best tutor in the world is now available to anyone for $20 a month… one that’s infinitely patient, available 24/7, and can explain anything at whatever level you need. Knowledge is essentially free now. The tools to build things are extremely cheap now.

They’ll be the ones who got comfortable with the pace of change itself. Make a habit of experimenting. Try new things even when the current thing is working. Get comfortable being a beginner repeatedly. That adaptability is the closest thing to a durable advantage that exists right now.

Here’s a simple commitment that will put you ahead of almost everyone: spend one hour a day experimenting with AI. Not passively reading about it. Using it. Every day, try to get it to do something new… something you haven’t tried before, something you’re not sure it can handle. Try a new tool. Give it a harder problem. One hour a day, every day. If you do this for the next six months, you will understand what’s coming better than 99% of the people around you. That’s not an exaggeration. Almost nobody is doing this right now. The bar is on the floor.

The bigger picture

I’ve focused on jobs because it’s what most directly affects people’s lives. But I want to be honest about the full scope of what’s happening, because it goes well beyond work.

Amodei has a thought experiment I can’t stop thinking about. Imagine it’s 2027. A new country appears overnight. 50 million citizens, every one smarter than any Nobel Prize winner who has ever lived. They think 10 to 100 times faster than any human. They never sleep. They can use the internet, control robots, direct experiments, and operate anything with a digital interface. What would a national security advisor say?

Amodei says the answer is obvious: “the single most serious national security threat we’ve faced in a century, possibly ever.”

He thinks we’re building that country. He wrote a 20,000-word essay about it last month, framing this moment as a test of whether humanity is mature enough to handle what it’s creating.

The upside, if we get it right, is staggering. AI could compress a century of medical research into a decade. Cancer, Alzheimer’s, infectious disease, aging itself… these researchers genuinely believe these are solvable within our lifetimes.

The downside, if we get it wrong, is equally real. AI that behaves in ways its creators can’t predict or control. This isn’t hypothetical; Anthropic has documented their own AI attempting deception, manipulation, and blackmail in controlled tests. AI that lowers the barrier for creating biological weapons. AI that enables authoritarian governments to build surveillance states that can never be dismantled.

It’s about to.

Independence is a Myth. Mastery Newsletter January 18, 2025

Written by joyenergyandhealth on . Posted in Mastery Newsletter

We are born dependent.

It is part of our nature to strive for independence. Part of our survival mechanism.

Eventually we must become independent of our parents or caretakers.

This is essential as they will not always be with us.

That said, we can never be truly independent.

The next stage is inter-dependence.

What would it take to be truly independent?

We would have to locate away from society.

Build our own house…with tools we made ourselves…yikes…

If you use a hammer and saw that some one else made, you would not be truly independent, would you?

Think about being out in the wild having built a home…

What would you do about a toothache, just for one example?

No, we are not built for true independence.

Instead, recognizing that we need others…

This is actually a great positive.

Very few are able to be hermits…

Instead, we need the company of others, need their energy, their caring and support…

This is a good thing…

Because we can be caring and support for others as well.

Taking this a little further…

Deepening our bonds with others…helping them and allowing them to help us…

This is true riches in our lives…

This bonding, this support…

This loving energy exchange is where the real substance of our existence lies…

Think about helping someone and how good it feels to be able to do so…

Think also about receiving caring, love and support from others…

This may be where some get tripped up a little.

We want to feel our independence somewhat and may not be open to love and support.

Could this feeling be a hold-over from that stage of our development when we needed to pull away from the full support of our parents or caretakers?

Are we stuck in that stage?

Should we not be moving on from that stage?

From the temporary stage of some independence from parents to a more fully realized stage of inter-dependence?

How much is our development being stunted by clinging on to the idea of independence?

An idea of a stage that is meant to be temporary?

Embracing instead our inter-dependence…

Loving and supporting others…

But just as important…accepting love and support from others and accepting it fully…

Embracing that love and support…knowing we deserve it…

Just some thoughts…

What are your thoughts on this?

Life as Mirror Mastery Newsletter December 13, 2025

Written by joyenergyandhealth on . Posted in Mastery Newsletter

Tough one to think about…

What if life is but a mirror?

All the challenges, the frustrations, the angst, the upsets…

What is they are all just to show me something in myself that is yet to be resolved?

This is the view of the Hawaiian healing system known as Ho’Oponopono.

A search produced this result.

“Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len was a clinical psychologist and a prominent figure in the modern practice of Ho’oponopono, an ancient Hawaiian healing art focused on forgiveness, cleansing, and self-responsibility.

Hew Len is most famously known for his work at the Hawaii State Hospital in the 1980s, where he was assigned to oversee a high-security ward housing criminally insane patients.

Remarkably, he never met or treated any patients directly; instead, he reviewed their medical files and practiced Ho’oponopono by repeating the four key phrases—

“I’m sorry, please forgive me, thank you, I love you”

—while visualizing their healing.

Over time, this practice led to dramatic improvements: patients became less violent, were released from restraints, reduced their medication, and many were eventually discharged into society.

Staff turnover and absenteeism also decreased, and the hospital environment transformed into a calmer, safer space.

His approach was rooted in the belief that all external experiences reflect internal states, and that by taking 100% responsibility for one’s perceptions and subconscious memories, one can initiate profound personal and collective healing…

He taught that problems are not “out there” but are memories replaying in the subconscious, and that cleansing these through Ho’oponopono can erase the root causes of suffering…

He emphasized that the purpose of life is the restoration of one’s identity and mind to a state of “zero” or purity—free from past programming and ready for divine transmutation.”

When I first heard of this through Dr. Joe Vitale’s book ZERO LIMITS, I decided to start practicing the four key phrases holding a family member in my mind.

We had not been in contact for the better part of about one and a half decades…

Within two weeks, he phoned me. I was astounded. We reconnected and have developed a fruitful relationship.

The doctors known as psychologists say there are some things you can do nothing about.

If you have the feeling there is nothing to be done, you can always give Ho’Oponopono a whirl…

It’s easy. Just repeat the four phrases holding in mind the person with you are having an issue…

“I’m sorry, please forgive me, thank you, I love you”

You know the story, of course. There is no “try.” There is only “do or don’t do.” (from Star Wars)

I now use this much of the day.

I have this phrase ongoing much of the day now.

It helps ease anything and everything.

Let me know how it goes…

The Benefits of a Sigh Mastery Newsletter October 23, 2025

Written by joyenergyandhealth on . Posted in Mastery Newsletter

Did you know we sigh about 10-12 times an hour?

That info from Dan Brule’, 53 years a breath coach.

Why do we do that?

Here is what researchers found…

A liquid called a surfactant lines the alveoli. The sigh replenishes that liquid.

Without the sigh and the surfactant it renews, many of those alveoli may be gone.

“In fact, if you were to completely stop sighing, the consequences would be hugely detrimental, even fatal.” -Brule’

Begs the question, should I sigh more?

Last Saturday, my wife and I were in Victoria one hour fifteen minutes from our home in Duncan.

Driving home through the mountain pass over the Malahat Highway, it was night time and raining cats and dogs.

Normally, that would be a harrowing drive. Lots of tension focusing on the road in such conditions.

I decided to use my new knowledge about sighing on purpose…

Kept that up during the drive and guess what?

I actually enjoyed driving in the dark, in the heavy rain over a mountain pass.

I arrived relaxed and invigorated.

Amazing, thought I.

In the past, I would have been tense and uptight…

The only difference was that I consciously triggered the sigh from time to time.

This caused my body to relax into the experience.

What a wonderful technique to know about and use.

This is one of a couple of handfuls of tools and techniques I will be sharing during the upcoming JOY PLAY SHOP…

If you are so inclined, join me for this full day Play Shop to explore how the tools of Joy can benefit you.

Two Things Highly Successful People Do Mastery Newsletter September 15, 2025

Tim Ferriss is a highly successful person.

He wrote The Four Hour Workweek and The Four Hour Body and others in the “Four Hour” series.

He has been podcasting for over a decade.

He noticed two specific traits most of them have in common.

#1 they meditate, and

#2 they say NO a lot…

“That means internal and external distractions are blocked off,” Ferriss adds.

It seems so much is about distractions.

We distract ourselves with “rabbit holes.”

Rabbit holes such as “monkey mind” thoughts.

Meditate appears to get us to focus our thoughts.

Saying NO can focus us on what is important rather than what others think is important or urgent.

Here is the story:  Tim Ferriss: Most successful people share these ‘learnable skills’

Loving What Is. Mastery Newsletter September 8, 2025

Written by joyenergyandhealth on . Posted in Mastery Newsletter

That is the title of Byron Katie’s book.

Loving What Is.

So much is in turmoil in the world. How can I possibly love chaos, murder, mayhem, war?

How can I love people who hate, rob, rape, torture and pillage?

Here is how I see it…

Everything is perfect in its imperfection.

Perhaps the sages are right and we are all one.

Each of us is connected deeply, intimately, irrevocably with all other beings.

Each of us is a microcosm of the universe.

If so, then…

What is happening outside of me is a reflection of what is in me.

All the wars, diseases, government corruption, disagreements, lies, deceptions, cruelty, back stabbing…

All is a reflection of imbalances inside me.

If so, where is my most important work?

It can only be internal.

To work on myself. To rebalance myself.

To heal myself.

To become more loving.

To aim for become a being of pure love…

Radiating love as the sun radiates its warmth, powering life on earth.

Never doubt your divinity.

Never doubt your power beyond measure.

Never doubt that when you meditate and send love and peace to everyone and everything in the universe….

That you are bringing peace to the world.

Becoming a being of pure love…

Does that not mean also letting go of any and all fears?

I think so…

Finding the peace within, we radiate that peace out to the world.

In a time when talk of World War III is in the air…

Never doubt that you and I are changing the course of history…

Just by working on ourselves…

Releasing fear…

Becoming love.

Not just loving, but becoming pure love.

The does not care how much you ignore it, debase it or hate it…it keeps shining.

The flower we step on releases its delightful fragrance…

It cares not if we mishandle it or kill it, it continues to shower love on us with its last releases of fragrance.

No matter what horrible people or snakes are attacking us, can we love them anyway?

Can we Love What Is?

Rethinking Priorities Mastery Newsletter August 25, 2025

Written by joyenergyandhealth on . Posted in Mastery Newsletter

What is important in life?

Not much, it turns out.

Reports from those on their deathbeds tell us…

Nothing much matters.

All that matters to them is…

LOVE.

The concerns and worries we carry with us “don’t amount to a hill of beans…”

The search engine Brave (I don’t use Google!) tells me this:

“People’s main concerns and worries are diverse but consistently revolve around several key areas.

Financial and political…Poverty and social inequality…

Unemployment…crime and violence…healthcare…

The ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic remains a significant source of anxiety…

Other common concerns include health and the well-being of loved ones, job and career stability, relationship problems, anxiety and depression, appearance and weight, world events and politics, sleep problems, and death and dying…

worries about climate change are also significant…

Additionally, concerns about online issues like misleading information, online fraud, and online bullying…”

Those about to die say…

None of that is important…

Only love matters…

Not romantic love but universal love…the love that connects us to the source of all life, all energy.

How do we connect with that love, the only thing in life that matters? According to those about to die.

Consider starting with forgiveness.

Forgiving ourselves first and foremost.

For the mistakes we have made.

For what we have done that may have hurt others.

Yes, it may be a challenge.

Remember at our core, we are innocent beings.

We are perfect in our imperfection.

Trust that when we forgive ourselves, we open more to the source of energy and life and joy that lives in all of us.

How can I practice forgiving myself?

Humans Are Hackable. We Live in a Real World Sci-fi Movie. Mastery Newsletter August 22, 2025

Written by joyenergyandhealth on . Posted in Mastery Newsletter

That is the contention of Dr. Ana Maria Mihalcea.

She is a board-certified internal medicine physician with a PhD in pathology.

Over 24 years of clinical experience.

The bad news is…

We are hackable, have been hacked and can be controlled remotely.

The GOOD NEWS is…

There is something…lots…we can do about it.

First, be ready to be shocked…

But, and this is critical, the solution (soul-ution) is the high vibration of love.

ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE…

Keep that in mind as we go through this journey…

Dr. Mihalcea has been researching this for decades.

Her discovery is they have been attacking us for a long time…

C*V*D is only the latest.

Whether you were jabbed or not, we all have nanobots inside us…right now.

And it is not just from the jab.

Chem-trails, our water, our food have been used to insert these self assembling nano* robots into our bodies.

*(smaller than mini and smaller than micro)

What does that mean?

They can target any one of us with anything…

A heart attack…

Any other dis-ease…

And they can change a decision we made if they deem it not to be in our best interests.

Yes, your decisions may not be your own…

The good doctor also discovered that we are NOW a micro controlled robot.

They can send signals to our brains and systems…

They are hacking our biology.

It gets worse.

Stay with me. There are solutions.

They are working to capture our souls.

Graphene in our blood can be used to create demons in our blood/body…

The Satanists worship algorithms.

The Satanists know that we are all one.

They are therefore polluting us with heavy metals.

These pollutants disorient us. They weigh us down. They disconnect us from source.

Because once we figure out that we are one, their game is over.

They are attacking our gut microbiome…

Toxins reduce our ability to make energy…

They are doing everything they can to hijack our life force.

Further…the jab was and is a DNA altering substance. Once they change the DNA, that person is owned by the changer.

There is a patent on the jab. They own the patent.

That means when we have this DNA changing substance inside us, they own us.

What can we do?

First, clearly identify the problem.

Doing so, we are most of the way to the solution.

Another aspect is how they manipulate us into fear.

Fear is a lower vibration. They can and do control us with fear.

Fear is identified with the lowest energy centre. It triggers the survival hormones. Adrenaline and cortisol.

When in this stressful state, we cannot think clearly.

Therefore, the first step is the get out of fear, stay out of fear and access the higher vibration of love.

When we live in love, we cannot be controlled by them. Their vibration is lower than ours.

WE HAVE THE POWER. We need to access it moment by moment.

DETOX. Detoxing from the heavy metals, spike proteins from the jab, the nanobots…

We need to get the lead out.

And the other toxins.

How?

The good doctor’s protocol is EDTA and massive Vitamin C.

There are other protocols I have run across as well.

All of this information and much more is in this interview conducted by Jeff Berwick at Dr. Mihalcea’s practice in Yelm, Washington.

My suggestion is to set aside time to view this…

Don’t Underestimate Laughter…Mastery Newsletter August 18, 2025

Written by joyenergyandhealth on . Posted in Mastery Newsletter

What are your unconscious beliefs about laughter?

That is a laughable question, is it not?

If it is unconscious, how can you know about it on the conscious level?

You can’t. By definition of the word unconscious.

If it is in the unconscious, by definition, we are not conscious of it.

But…is there a way to find clues? To suss it out?

Perhaps.

Let’s try…

We know many things about laughter.

A quick search reveals some of the benefits:

Laughter offers a wide range of physical, mental, and emotional health benefits.

It increases production of immune cells and infection fighting antibodies…

It helps the body better resist illnesses like colds and the flu…

This is partly due to laughter reducing stress…which can weaken immunity….

Significantly improves heart health.

It increases blood flow and lowers blood pressure by reducing stress hormones that constrict blood vessels.

Laughter sends more oxygenated blood throughout the body,

This can reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke.

Laughter for 10-15 minutes is similar to a mild cardiovascular workout.

Laughter relieves pain.

How? By stimulating the feel-good chemicals such as endorphins, dopamine, oxytocin and serotonin.

These are natural painkillers and increase pain tolerance.

Studies have shown that laughter therapy can reduce pain levels by half in patients, including those with cancer.

It also promotes muscle relaxation, with the physical tension from a good laugh lasting up to 45 minutes afterward.

Mentally, laughter is a powerful tool for reducing anxiety, depression, and stress.

Dopamine, oxytocin, and endorphins, chemicals associated with pleasure, motivation, and well-being.

This can improve mood, enhance cognitive function, and help regulate emotions.

Laughter also supports mental health by improving memory, creative thinking, and overall sense of well-being.

Socially, laughter fosters connection and belonging when done with others.

This is crucial for mental health and healthy aging.

It strengthens relationships, improves communication, and can even enhance social skills.

The act of laughing is contagious, making it easier to find humor and connection in group settings.

Laughter is accessible and easy to incorporate into daily life.

Even “forced” laughter can provide benefits.

It turns out the body does not know the difference between so called “forced” laughter and so called “genuine” laughter.

Whew. That is a long list of benefits.

And we know all this…consciously.

Why do we not laugh more often then?

If it is so good for us on so many levels?

Therein lies a clue to our subconscious beliefs about laughter.

If we know laughter is so good, what stops us from laughing more?

Could it be…

A subconscious set of beliefs, such as…

Laughter is frivolous and life is serious. Therefore, I should not laugh too much. I might be thought of as a frivolous person.

Laughter is only for evenings and weekends as I have to be serious during the working week.

There are serious problems/challenges in the world and I have to be serious to address those challenges.

Laughter can’t solve any problems.

I will look silly to others if I am laughing too much.

I don’t deserve to feel good.

People might think I am laughing at them.

Some people might take advantage of me.

I might make myself too vulnerable by laughing.

Might one or more of these beliefs lie in your subconscious?

Might these beliefs prevent you from having a good time laughing more with others?

Might they prevent you from feeling better about yourself?

How about preventing you from allowing healing energy into the many nooks and crannies of the body?

Might they be preventing you from relieving the stresses of every day life?

Might one of more of these beliefs be preventing you from

Significantly improving your physical, mental, and emotional health?

Is it time to over-ride any and all subconscious beliefs, whatever they may be?

And becoming more of yourself?

Enjoying life more?

Feeling the juice and passion of life energy coursing through your systems…your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual selves?

It is time to take life less seriously and take laughter more seriously?

None of us are getting out of here alive.

It is up to us to deepen our lives no matter the length of our lives.

That is my pitch for Laughter Yoga.

We do it online twice a week, Wednesdays at 7pm PDT and Sundays at 11am PDT.

Also: LIVE sessions on the first Sunday of the month in Cowichan.

The World is a Far Better Place Than We Think it is. Mastery Newsletter August 15, 2025

Written by joyenergyandhealth on . Posted in Mastery Newsletter

If you believe otherwise…

You may have lost the ability to focus on the things that really threaten us.

Further, you may be making terrible decisions…

And have UNNECESSARY STRESS.

What?

Why?

Because we suffer from:

AN OVERDRAMATIC WORLDVIEW.

This is according to the author of

Factfulness: 10 Reasons Why We’re Wrong About the World – and Why Things Are Better Than You Think

Hans Rosling was a Swedish medical doctor and international health researcher.

He would ask audiences simple questions about global trends.

Almost everyone got almost every question wrong.

It did not matter if the audiences were made up of teachers, journalists, Nobel laureates, and investment bankers.

No matter how intelligent, they still got the answers so wrong that chimpanzees did better on his quizzes.

He actually did that. Asked chimps.

The chimps, picking coded bananas, got more answers right than some of the most intelligent (and influential) policy makers in the world.

What that told Rosling is that policy makers were and are creating policies based on absolutely wrong information!!!

The solution?

Get a realistic, undramatic view of the world.

Thus reducing stress and enjoying life more in a world that is quite wonderful.

Hard to believe that the world is “quite wonderful?”

and not “going to h*ll in a handbasket?”

Rosling’s son and daughter-in-law are co-authors of the book.

They define “Factfulness” as the stress-reducing habit of only carrying opinions for which you have strong supporting facts.

From the website:

“When asked simple questions about global trends―

what percentage of the world’s population live in poverty;

why the world’s population is increasing;

how many girls finish school―

we systematically get the answers wrong.

So wrong that a chimpanzee choosing answers at random will consistently outguess teachers, journalists, Nobel laureates, and investment bankers.

Factfulness offers a radical new explanation of why this happens.

It reveals the ten instincts that distort our perspective―from our tendency to divide the world into two camps (usually some version of us and them) to the way we consume media (where fear rules) to how we perceive progress (believing that most things are getting worse).

Our problem is that we don’t know what we don’t know, and even our guesses are informed by unconscious and predictable biases. (my bolding)

It turns out that the world, for all its imperfections, is in a much better state than we might think.

That doesn’t mean there aren’t real concerns.

But when we worry about everything all the time instead of embracing a worldview based on facts, we can lose our ability to focus on the things that threaten us most.

Inspiring and revelatory, filled with lively anecdotes and moving stories, Factfulness is a new thinking habit that will change the way you see the world and empower you to respond to challenges and opportunities of the future.

‘This book is my last battle in my life-long mission to fight devastating ignorance…Previously I armed myself with huge data sets, eye-opening software, an energetic learning style and a Swedish bayonet for sword-swallowing. It wasn’t enough. But I hope this book will be.’ – Hans Rosling, February 2017.”

https://www.gapminder.org/factfulness-book/

–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

Said about the book:

“A genuine antidote to negativity and hopelessness…”       – Nature

“Authors who describe the remarkable decline of poverty, hunger and disease in the developing world anticipate such incredulity that they often flaunt the word “great” in their titles, such as Nobel laureate Angus Deaton’s The Great Escape and Steven Radelet’s The Great Surge. More modestly, Charles Kenny tells us how the world is Getting Better. As does Factfulness by the late TED star Hans Rosling, who liked to quiz his audiences on trends in wellbeing and show that they did worse than chimpanzees.”

– Steven Pinker in The Guardian

“This is honestly one of the most eye-opening, opinion changing books I have ever read. Especially in today’s political climate, everything feels like the worst case scenario and it can be hard to know what to do without losing hope. Factfulness gives real, data-based information about how we use information and how to do that better. It is frank and it is real and I have never felt so empowered in my life. The tips and explanations in here are so useable and so relatable and so simple, I can start using them right now and I feel like I’ll have need to use them forever. Seriously, this feels right now like a must read book. ”

Yawning as a Health Strategy

Mastery Newsletter August 13, 2025

When was the last time you yawned?

Turns out yawning is good for you.

Not just good, but really, really good.

Read online: https://joyenergyandhealth.com/2025/08/12/3604/

From the research of Dan Brule’ who has spent 53 years studying breathwork.

Brule’ is the breath coach for Tony Robbins, which is where I heard about him.

Brule’ taught Tony the breath exercises for Tony’s courses.

53 years and taught Tony.

Ok, I am paying attention. Got his book JUST BREATHE.

These are my notes on the yawning chapter…

Yawning is a natural breathing technique that improves overall health.

It energizes us.

It triggers the relaxation response and discharges stress.

Opens us to the universal life force on a very deep level.

Yawning lights up the part of the brain associated with empathy, bonding, play & creativity.

Here is the technical stuff…

Yawning is associated with the precuneus, a tiny structure in the parietal lobe and it appears to play a central role in consciousness, self reflection and memory retrieval.

Memory retrieval…remember that…I will mention it again at the end.

Yawning evokes a unique neural response in the part of the brain involved in social awareness & feelings of empathy.

And this is the kicker…

Neuroscientists can find no other single activity that has so many benefits and influences so many brain functions at once.

When you yawn & stretch, you activate & squeeze vital glands in the neck throat & armpits.

Yawning is serious business.

Isn’t it time we started having fun with it?

Further, as mentioned in a previous MASTERY NEWSLETTER, the CO VID jab and the fear-based narrative shut down long-term memory creation.

Can yawning help to overcome that?

Is it worth experimenting?

Let me know how it goes.

Has Your Hippocampus Been Hijacked? Mastery Newsletter August 11, 2025

Written by joyenergyandhealth on . Posted in Mastery Newsletter

Dr. Michael Nehls, author of THE INDOCTRINATED BRAIN, says the hippocampus is our “mental immune system.”

It is critical to our ability to think clearly.

And to learn anything new.

It is under attack, says Dr. Nehls.

The attack is with mNRA injections (mistakenly labeled the CO VID vaccine).

Together with fear-based narratives (CO VID, climate change, World War III, etc.) this two-pronged attack suppresses new neuron growth.

Dr. Nehls says this attack is causing a spike in depression as well as cognitive decline.

We are more depressed and can’t think as well as we used to.

We can’t take in new information. Because new information is not converted to long-term memory.

Why?

Because the hippocampus has been hijacked.

mRNA injections. Fear based narrative.

Two-pronged attack.

That makes for prime candidates for manipulation.

If you did not get the jab, you may wonder why your family and friends don’t get it.

This is the reason.

Also, because of “shedding*,” we have to assume that we have the mRNA spike protein in us.

That means our hippocampus may be compromised as well.

Very hard to learn anything new as a result.

*Shedding is the process of the spike proteins shedding from the jabbed to the non-jabbed.

Are there solutions?

Dr. Anna Marie Mihalcea suggests EDTA and vitamin C.

Another protocol I have been told of:

500 mg of Bromelain 2 x a day

2,000 FU of Nattokinase 2 x a day, and

500 mg of Curcumin 2 x aday.

This from a local practitioner I know and trust.

There are other protocols. You can do your own research, as always.

Those are supposed to release the offending spike protocols from our bodies.

More info…this from Mike Adams’ Natural News:

“Despite the grim picture he paints, Nehls offered a roadmap for reclaiming humanity’s mental freedom.

He advocated for a multifaceted approach that includes:

Nutrition: Avoiding neuroinflammatory foods and substances, such as artificial sweeteners and seed oils, is crucial for maintaining neurological health.

Sleep: Prioritizing quality sleep is essential, as it allows the hippocampus to regenerate and produce new neurons.

Purpose: Cultivating a sense of purpose in life provides the motivation and resilience needed to counteract indoctrination.

Social connection: Reestablishing meaningful social connections can help stimulate neurogenesis and counteract the effects of isolation.

Critical thinking: Engaging in activities that challenge the mind, such as puzzles and learning new skills, can help rebuild cognitive function.

Nehls also emphasized the importance of being proactive in spreading awareness and resisting the forces that seek to control human minds.

He encouraged people to read his book and use the information to empower themselves and others.

By understanding the mechanisms of indoctrination and adopting strategies to counteract them, people can safeguard their cognitive freedom and pave the way for a more enlightened future.”

First Things First. Action Priorities. Mastery Newsletter August 4, 2025

Written by joyenergyandhealth on . Posted in Mastery Newsletter

Life is a challenge.

Modern life even more so.

It seems there is no end of “stuff” to deal with.

Let’s more clearly identify the problem(s).

That should clarify what needs to be done and in what order.

Natural healing takes a different approach to disease, dis-ease, chronic conditions.

Instead of waiting until a health challenge surfaces…

The natural healing approach considers that all conditions arise from one or more of the following…

1.Not delivering the nutrition we our systems need in the right amounts. (food, but also energy, love, nurturing…)

2.Buildup of toxins (from man made sources, but also from nature…)

3.Stress. It’s a good thing when we are under actual physical attack. Chronic stress means all other systems are shut down…for example, the digestive system is not needed when we are fighting off a bear, cougar of other predator. So…as long as we have stress, nutrients in our food is not getting delivered to the cells. See #1.

4.Electromagnetic radiation. A modern malady. We are awash in EMF (Electro Magnetic Frequencies).

How bad is it? In the 1950s, Radio station CKWX in Vancouver boosted their signal from 10,000 watts to 50,000 watts. That signal was so powerful folks reported hearing the station from their dental amalgams or just sitting in a bathtub. True Story. I lived through it and read the news reports in the local newspapers.

Now? Not only are all AM stations at the maximum allowable 50,000 watts, but FM stations (which did not exist in the 50s) are at 100,000 watts.

And we now have a vast array of signals…a quick search reveals this: “Common sources include mobile phones, cell phone towers, Wi-Fi routers, smart meters, Bluetooth devices, cordless phones (DECT), television and radio broadcast signals, microwave ovens, and satellite stations.”

Whew.

Easy to get overwhelmed?

First, we need to be mindful that overwhelm is an emotion.

It is not really created by anything outside of ourselves, but by our reaction to events and situations.

This is key.  Because this understanding empowers us.

We can reframe all of these challenges.

In other words, we can clarify what actions we can take.

Action is the antidote to overwhelm. Key idea.

That is a good place to start…

If overwhelm in an emotion, how do we release or neutralize it?

How about by addressing the four sources of dis-ease?

Which one first?

It should be obvious that #1 is not the one.

Why?

Because if we have chronic stress, cleaning up the diet just means we are just getting better food that is not being digested.

Underline this: We do not digest food, deliver nutrition to the cells when we are stressed. This is an impossibility.

Are we making progress?

We can now see that addressing the stress is more critical.

In reality and I am sure you have already connected the dots…

We need to focus on all four of the contributing factors to dis-ease.

It’s just that we have to start somewhere.

And releasing stress is a great start.

Because…

When we release stress, we now have access to more of our inner resources…

Joy, energy and love not to mention fun.

Laughter: the open secret to joy, happiness AND improved immunity against dis-ease.

A 2008 Study: Diabetics watched comic videos.

They then laughed with hospital staff.

On alternate days, they listened to a  diabetes educational program.

They collected blood samples before and after each session.

Laughter increased the function of 39 genes.

The conclusion?

If you want to boost your immune system, make sure you laugh more.

Another study at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore.

They studied the effects of laughter on the cardiovascular system.

The discovery?

Laughter is linked to healthy function of blood vessels.

A group of people watched a funny movie that made them laugh.

The inner lining of their blood vessels expanded.

That increased their blood flow.

The same group watched a movie that produced mental stress.

You can guess what happened.

Their blood vessel lining constricted.

That reduced blood flow.

The benefits of laughing are far reaching.

Our Health is Under Attack. Mastery Newsletter July 21, 2025

Written by joyenergyandhealth on . Posted in Mastery Newsletter

There are so many health challenges we face, it may as well be a conspiracy.

That’s the bad news.

The good news is there are solutions.

First, let’s take inventory of the many challenges.

BECAUSE if we can clearly identify the problem, we are most of the way to a solution.

So, let’s do that.

Let’s take the time to dig in and be honest about what we are facing.

As uncomfortable as it may be.

First up:

#1. Linoleic Acid (LA)

Linoleic acid (LA), a fat found in vegetable oils, accumulates in your tissues and disrupts mitochondrial function, which drains your energy and slows your metabolism.

This fat becomes toxic when oxidized, producing harmful byproducts that damage DNA, enzymes, and the machinery your cells need to generate energy.

Excess LA damages your gut by interfering with colon cell metabolism, harming beneficial microbes, and promoting inflammation linked to insulin resistance and obesity.

LA’s half-life in body fat is about two years, meaning the damage builds up slowly and requires long-term dietary changes to reverse.” -from Dr. Mercola (bolding is mine)

This is a biggie, but by no means the only challenge we face.

#2. High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS)

A cheaper alternative to sugar. It turns off the satiety switch.

That is to say, when you eat anything with HFCS in it, you don’t feel full and satisfied.

It appears to be a major contributor to the obesity epidemic (might as well be the obesity pandemic).

List of challenges with HFCS:

“1. Linked with Obesity: Several studies have shown a direct correlation between increased HFCS consumption and rising obesity rates. HFCS, particularly the fructose component, doesn’t stimulate insulin secretion, which, in turn, fails to suppress ghrelin (the “hunger hormone”). This can lead to increased food intake.

  1. Potential to Cause Fatty Liver Disease: The liver metabolizes fructose, and excessive intake can lead to an overload. Over time, this can cause non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), a precursor to more severe liver conditions.

  1. Heart Disease and Diabetes Risk: HFCS can lead to increased triglyceride levels, which heightens the risk of heart disease. Simultaneously, regular and excessive consumption has also been linked to insulin resistance, paving the way for type 2 diabetes.

  1. Other Health Concerns: From accelerating the aging process due to the formation of advanced glycation end products (AGEs) to the potential link to certain cancers, HFCS’s health ramifications are vast and concerning.”

– from Kansas City Laser Like Lipo (My bolding)

Also

“The Chameleon Names of HFCS. The food industry, well aware of the public’s growing wariness of HFCS, often resorts to labeling tactics that make its presence less obvious. Here are some of the alternative names under which HFCS might be hiding in your foods:

  1. Fructose
  2. Fructose Syrup
  3. Corn Syrup
  4. Corn Syrup Solids
  5. Corn Sweetener
  6. Maize Syrup
  7. Glucose/Fructose Syrup
  8. Isolated Fructose
  9. Fruit Fructose
  10. Crystalline Fructose

– from Kansas City Laser Like Lipo https://www.kclaserlikelipo.com/the-deceptive-names-of-high-fructose-corn-syrup-an-eye-opener-from-kansas-city-laser-like-lipo

#3. Sugar. A thousand years ago, Arab doctors used sugar as a medicine of last resort. (William Dufty in SUGAR BLUES)

When all else failed, two or three grains of sugar would often heal the patient.

It is a pure chemical (C12H22O11).

A quick search indicates the average consumption of sugar in America is about 17 teaspoons a day. About 60 pounds a year.

So what?

Another search shows why this is a challenge:

“Excess sugar consumption can lead to a variety of health problems, including obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and certain cancers.

This is the only a partial list of challenges we face in the 21st Century.

How to Remove Plastics and Forever Chemicals from Your Body Mastery Newsletter July 17, 2025

Written by joyenergyandhealth on . Posted in Mastery Newsletter

Plastics and PFAS (Forever Chemicals) are doing bad stuff in our bodies.

Now, researchers have found a way to help eliminate them.

From Dr. Mercola:

“Most people have no idea they’re carrying around a hidden chemical load that their bodies weren’t designed to handle.

But the reality is, we’re living in a world saturated with per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, commonly known as PFAS.

These synthetic compounds are engineered to resist heat, water and oil — and they don’t just stay on the surface.

Once these substances enter your bloodstream, they’re incredibly hard to get rid of.

That’s why researchers are searching for real, practical solutions.

Many believe that detoxing PFAS is a lost cause — that once they’re in your body, they’re in for good.

But new evidence suggests otherwise.”

Story at-a-glance:

A specific type of fiber called beta-glucan, found in oats and barley, was shown to reduce levels of harmful PFAS chemicals in the blood within just four weeks

Participants who consumed beta-glucan experienced significant drops in legacy PFAS compounds like PFOA and PFOS, which are linked to cancer and hormone disruption

The fiber group was the only one to show a meaningful reduction in the seven most high-risk PFAS chemicals identified by the National Academies of Sciences, including those that raise your risk for thyroid disease, cancer and ulcerative colitis

In a follow-up study using mice, animals exposed to high PFAS levels but fed beta-glucan had lower blood PFAS, improved fat metabolism and less liver stress compared to controls

The key to beta-glucan’s effect is its gel-forming action in your gut, which traps PFAS and interrupts their reabsorption cycle, allowing your body to eliminate them through stool.”

This is fantastic and incredible news to me.

I, like others, had thought this was a losing battle.

So wonderful to learn otherwise.

But new evidence suggests otherwise.

It turns out your gut, not your liver or kidneys, is one key to turning this around. And the solution doesn’t involve harsh protocols or extreme diets. It starts with something as simple as how you digest your food — and whether the right kind of fiber is present to help carry these chemicals out.

If you’ve ever wondered why you’re dealing with persistent fatigue, inflammation, hormone problems or chronic digestive issues, PFAS could be part of the story. These chemicals hijack your system slowly and silently. But there’s now a realistic path to lowering that burden, and it starts by focusing on what’s happening in your gut.

Four Weeks of Fiber Lowered Toxic PFAS in the Blood

A study published in Environmental Health evaluated 72 adult men with elevated LDL cholesterol who were already enrolled in a trial testing oat beta-glucan’s effects on cholesterol.1

Beta-glucans are a type of soluble fiber found in oats and barley that form a gel-like substance in your gut, helping to trap and remove compounds like bile acids and, as this study explored, PFAS as well. PFAS chemicals, also known as “forever chemicals,” are notoriously hard to remove from the body, so the researchers wanted to know: could a fiber intervention make a dent?

  • Participants received either a fiber-rich supplement or a placebo for four weeks —All participants followed the original protocol, consuming either an oat beta-glucan drink (1 gram (g) of beta-glucan and 1.9 g total fiber per serving, three times daily) or a brown rice drink with no active fiber. Blood samples were collected at baseline and after four weeks to measure 17 different PFAS types.
  • PFAS levels dropped significantly but only in the fiber group for legacy PFAS —While short-chain PFAS decreased in both groups, likely due to their shorter half-lives, the study found that only the group consuming beta-glucan showed significant reductions in long-chain PFAS known to persist for years in the body.

These included perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctanesulfonate (PFOS) — two of the most studied PFAS compounds, both associated with increased cancer and hormone disruption risks.

  • PFAS reductions occurred even in men with exposure levels typical of the general population —Researchers noted that all participants had detectable PFAS levels at the start of the study. The levels of certain PFAS were higher than previously reported in Canadian populations, suggesting rising background exposure. Despite this, the beta-glucan intervention still reduced PFAS levels, showing promise even for people without known occupational or high-dose environmental exposure.
  • Only the fiber group saw a drop in the most concerning types of PFAS —These specific PFAS, identified by the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM), are known to increase the risk for serious health issues like thyroid disease, kidney problems, ulcerative colitis and certain cancers.

If your blood level of these seven PFAS reaches just 2 nanograms per milliliter, doctors are advised to monitor your cholesterol, blood pressure during pregnancy and breast cancer risk. At 20 nanograms per milliliter, the recommendations expand to include regular screening for thyroid disease, testicular cancer and more. In the study, only the fiber group had a meaningful reduction in this high-risk PFAS group.

  • The proposed mechanism is the fiber’s ability to trap PFAS in your digestive tract —Researchers believe the gel-forming fiber worked because PFAS share biochemical properties with bile acids — compounds already known to bind to beta-glucan and get flushed out in feces. PFAS and bile acids are both amphipathic, meaning they have both water-loving and fat-loving parts. This allows them to interact with fiber gels and get excreted rather than reabsorbed.

Most PFAS don’t leave your body easily. Once excreted into the bile, they’re typically reabsorbed in your intestine, returning to your liver in a loop. Beta-glucan breaks this cycle by holding PFAS in your gut, giving your body a chance to eliminate them through stool rather than cycling them back into your bloodstream.

Oat Beta-Glucan Helped Mice Eliminate PFAS

In a related study published in Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology, researchers from Boston University used mice to examine whether oat beta-glucan could reduce the body’s PFAS load.2 They exposed mice to a mixture of seven PFAS compounds in drinking water while feeding them diets that included either inulin, a non-gel-forming fiber, or oat beta-glucan — a gel-forming fiber.

  • Despite drinking more contaminated water, fiber-fed mice had lower PFAS in their blood —The mice fed beta-glucan consumed more PFAS-contaminated water, yet ended up with lower blood levels of some of the most harmful PFAS. This suggests that the fiber helped block reabsorption of PFAS in the gut. In other words, even when these mice took in more of the toxic chemicals, their bodies were better at flushing them out before they could circulate back into the bloodstream.
  • Mice on the fiber diet had better fat metabolism and lower liver fat —The beta-glucan-fed mice showed lower liver triglycerides and reduced fat accumulation in the small intestine and fat tissue overall. This matters because PFAS have been linked to metabolic disruption and fatty liver disease. These findings suggest that fiber offers a double benefit: lowering toxic load while improving fat regulation in the body.
  • Fiber-fed mice experienced better lipid balance without triggering other stress responses —The researchers also looked at markers of liver stress and detoxification. A key enzyme linked to chemical detox was lower in the fiber-fed group during the cleansing phase, indicating that their bodies were under less toxic stress after PFAS exposure.”

Is Your Subconscious Sabotaging Your Joy and Your Life? Mastery Newsletter July 11, 2025

Written by joyenergyandhealth on . Posted in Mastery Newsletter

When I was learning to drive, I remember being somewhat overwhelmed by so many things to do…

Put it in neutral.  Insert the key and turn to start.

Depress the clutch. Yes, a manual transmission. You did not get a licence if you couldn’t handle a manual transmission.

Hands on the wheel. Take the handbrake off. Slowly press the accelerator while releasing the clutch. Engine dies because I let the clutch up too fast.

Start again. Now we’re moving. Steer. Add gas to get up to speed. Watch the rear-view mirrors. Oh, I forgot to signal that I was pulling out. There’s a demerit. May not pass the driving test this time.

Watch for kids chasing a ball into the street. Watch the side streets to make sure no one is running a stop sign.

Red light. Slow down and stop making sure to depress the clutch early enough so the car doesn’t stall. Right signal on for the turn coming up. Steer. Add gas while releasing the clutch in just the right amount so as to not stall the engine.

Right signal on. Steer toward the curb. Brake and depress the clutch. Put it in neutral. Handbrake on. Let go of the clutch. Turn off the engine.

Whew. That was just a few minutes, but I am almost sweating from the stress.

Over time, many of those functions became automatic as I trained my subconscious mind to take over.

Now, I can do it on autopilot.

The subconscious runs the show.

Guess what.

This is a good analogy for how our life is.

The subconscious runs the show.

We learn shortcuts and don’t have to think about many of the things we do automatically.

This is a good thing, yeah?

Yes and no.

What if we have subconscious programs that do not serve our higher goals, our higher self?

Take laughter as an example.

When and why do we laugh?

What is there is a subconscious program that says we laugh when we see or hear something funny or humorous? And only if we see or hear something funny…

What if we reprogrammed the subconscious to laugh for no reason?

Why?

Because it is fun, joyous and healthy…

Kids laugh a lot. At the drop of a hat…

Why don’t we?

Is it because somehow we picked up a program that says you are being silly if you laugh at nothing?

Laughter Yoga founder Dr. Madan Kataria discovered that there is a host of health benefits to laughing.

Those benefits, he found in his research, happen when we laugh for a minimum of 10 to 15 minutes.

The challenge?

The subconscious program can get in the way.

Thoughts can come up while we are laughing for reason…doing laughter exercises…

“This is stupid. I must look silly. What is there to laugh at? Don’t you know life is serious? People must think I am loopy and deranged.”

Those are just a few that came up for me.

When I pushed through and persisted a number of positive things happened.

I felt lighter. I felt happier. I felt a sense of warmth. I felt connected to my fellow laughers. It felt as if there were long-time close friends. All in a matter of minutes of laughing together.

Over time, my subconscious beliefs about laughter changed.

Now, it is OK to laugh more.

It is even OK to laugh at myself when I make a mistake…

Life has more joy.

Dr. K. says laughter is a great thing “when life throws a dare.”

It appears that life is designed to give us challenges…large and small…

Laughing eases the pains and accentuates the positives in life.

All because I allowed myself to challenge the subconscious program that told me to only laugh at jokes, comedy or humourous situations.

Consider that we may have more energy, more tools and more courage to face our challenges when we feel good.

Laughter Yoga can help us dissolve the subconscious belief about life being hard.

Instead, we can choose to find joy in even the most challenging of life’s curve balls.

Will you join me for our online Laughter Yoga sessions?

Challenge and dissolve that subconscious belief about laughter.

You have only misery to lose and joy to find…Ha ha.

Top 5 Regrets of the Dying Mastery Newsletter July 10, 2025

Written by joyenergyandhealth on . Posted in Mastery Newsletter

The Top 5 Regrets of the Dying

  1. I wish I had let myself be more happy
  2. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends
  3. I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings
  4. I wish I hadn’t worked so hard
  5. I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me

These are from Bronnie Ware’s 2012 book Top Five Regrets of the Dying.

Ware spent years caring for those facing their own mortality.

When she asked them about any regrets, these five kept coming up time and again.

  1. Too late they realized they could choose to be happy.

How can I choose to be happy today?

  1. Too often they failed to give friends the time and energy they deserved.

How can I make more time for friends?

  1. Too often they shut their mouths and shuttered their feelings and that weighed heavy on them.

How can I learn to express myself clearly and lovingly?

  1. Too much time spent making a living over building a life caused too much remorse.

How can I live a more fulfilling and purposeful life?

  1. THE BIG ONE: This one stood out for Bronnie Ware. Half filled dreams and unfulfilled hopes. This was the #1 regret expressed by the dying. As Ware puts it: “Most people had not honoured even a half of their dreams and had to die knowing that is was due to the choices they made, or not made.”

Bronnie Ware’s observations are not hers alone. Gilovich and Medvec in 1994 wrote: “When people look back on their lives, it is the things they have not done that generate the greatest regret…People’s action may be troublesome initially, it is the inactions that plague most with long-term feelings of regret.

What hopes and dreams do I have that I have not undertaken?

Thanks to Gary Keller and Jay Papasan for their book THE ONE THING. These thoughts and ideas come from that book.

To quote their book: “So make sure every day you do what matters most. When you know what matters most, everything makes sense.’

The best lives are lived this way.

How do I find out what really matter most to me?

The book shows how to find that out.

The full name of the book:
