Tea not Plastic Mastery Newsletter April 21, 2026

Written by joyenergyandhealth on . Posted in Mastery Newsletter

When you drink your tea, do you really want to load up on more plastic?

Estimates indicate we are ingesting a credit card’s worth of plastic each week.

One way to reduce that is to only use plastic free tea bags.

Tea companies (some of them) are waking up to that idea.

Some now provide tea bags that don’t leach plastic into your cup.

It’s a small step but each step helps.

Here is the result of my research. Please do your own as well. This is Canadian research.

Decaf Info: Decaf tea is extra processed, Lower-quality leaves are often used to begin with, Labels rarely tell you the method clearly

👉 So even before decaf, you’re often starting with weaker raw material

Best: CO₂ or water-process decaf

Okay: Ethyl acetate

Avoid: Methylene chloride

👉 If you drink decaf occasionally, fine. 👉 If it’s daily, be picky—or switch to herbal.

Easiest No-Brainer Picks (Canada)

  • Numi Decaf Earl Grey (CO₂)
  • Numi Decaf Breakfast Blend (CO₂)
  • Choice Organic Decaf English Breakfast (check for CO₂ label)

If you choose the type right, you’re already ahead:

  • Darjeeling (India) o Lighter, cleaner, less industrial Often from smaller estates

  • Assam (higher-quality sources only) o Strong, malty o

Choose premium, not commodity grade

  • Ceylon (Sri Lanka, high-grown) o Cleaner, brighter flavor o Look for “high-grown” designation

  • Yunnan (China – Dian Hong) o Naturally smoother, less harsh o           Often from smaller farms
