That is what describes the sensation and feeling of week 3 of the Iceman course.

 

Wow. I am blown away. What I have been searching for and moving toward all my life. (but then I feel that about every new discovery 🙂 )

Main Points:

 

  • The Iceman, Wim Hof, has gained control of his autonomic nervous system and his immune system
  • He trained 12 others to do the same and they were tested by researchers
  • It is a trainable skill
  • More energy, more immunity against colds, flus and other conditions
  • Wim’s system includes breathing and cold showers
  • Cold showers are hard work
  • We are meant to work harder as we age
  • By contributing more, we gain more energy, health, joy and happiness

 

The Iceman is Wim Hof who has defied conventional thinking and gained control of his autonomic nervous system. The medical texts say that is impossible.

 

Further, he trained 12 volunteers how to do the same.

 

Results from that study show that gaining control of our autonomic nervous system is a trainable skill!!

 

…studies show that the immune system can be influenced by the consciousness in many ways, which could mean that our thoughts, beliefs and mood can affect the physical state of our body.

 

Knowing that, you can learn to control your thinking and thus your immune system and health.

My experience so far: nothing short of incredible. Best couple of hundred bucks I have spent for many a moon, buying his course.

 

At age 69, I figure there are two pathways: either accept older age and the health challenges that come with it: potential slowing down and all the modern dis-eases: cancer, diabetes, heart disease and who knows what else.

 

Or

 

“Rage, rage against the dying of the light”

 

I choose the latter. Wim Hof’s method seems to me to combine many modalities:

 

Exercise, yoga, stretching, breathing techniques, meditation, energy work, inner smile from tai chi and qigong, trauma release work and even emotional freedom.

 

It has elements of all those and Wim adds working with cold. He says “cold is a noble force.” I am experiencing that with daily cold showers, now up to two minutes at a time.

 

The awakening of vibrant energy is astonishing. What a wonderful addiction to have…being addicted to your own energy. Wowee zowiee. Such fun.

 

Cold showers too much for you?

 

Here is the discovery: We are meant to work harder as we age.

 

We are NOT meant to take it easy. That is the programming that modern society imposes on us. You know: work hard so you can retire and take it easy.

 

What crap!

 

With all the experience, knowledge and yes, perhaps some wisdom that we have acquired throughout our lives, we as elders owe it to ourselves to continue contributing to the wellbeing of others.

 

Why should we be denied one of the great treasures of life, giving and contributing?

 

It is an open secret that when we help others, WE are the ones who benefit more than they do!!!

 

Learning how to give more, contribute more and love more leads us to our own joy, happiness and salvation.

 

So yes, the Iceman course is hard work. But oh is it joyous. Yes yes yes.

Reviving the Handshake

 

Or..I’ve been hugging so long, I’ve forgotten how to shake hands.

 

This mania for hugging finally got to me when I read an article about how shaking hands can get the body producing oxytocin faster than hugging.

 

Oxytocin is the “love hormone.” Wikipedia tells us: “It plays a role in social bonding”

 

Apparently, it takes a minimum of 20 seconds of hugging for the hypothalamus to generate oxytocin, but shaking hands does it quicker. Well, well.

 

So I have been experimenting with and reacquainting myself with shaking hands with friends. We still hug as well so we get the best of both worlds.

 

One of the things I notice is that we can have eye contact with hand shaking. That may explain at least partly how oxytocin is created quicker with a handshake than a hug. May also have something to do with skin to skin contact. (skin to skin hugging may work faster, but there is all that time taken up getting naked before a hug…not practical much of the time.)

 

Also started noticing the great variety in handshakes. In the last few weeks, I have had many of them, including one bone crusher. Ouch.

What is Wealth?

 Definition from Investopedia:

Wealth is a measure of the value of all of the assets of worth owned by a person, community, company or country. http://www.investopedia.com/terms/w/wealth.asp

 

How about considering all the intangible assets? Health, vitality, energy, joy, happiness, family and friends? These may be the true wealth in life.

 

The Beatles said: “The love you take is equal to the love you make.”

 

So, unlike tangible assets, we may be able to take the sum of the intangibles with us to the next phase after physical body death…love.

Is Windows a Virus?

No, Windows is not a virus. Here’s what viruses do:

 

1.They replicate quickly – okay, Windows does that.

 

2.Viruses use up valuable system resources, slowing down the system as they do so – okay, Windows does that.

 

3.Viruses will, from time to time, trash your hard disk – okay, Windows does that too.

 

4.Viruses are usually carried, unknown to the user, along with valuable programs and systems. – Sigh.. Windows does that, too.

 

5.Viruses will occasionally make the user suspect their system is too slow (see 2) and the user will buy new hardware. – Yup, Windows does that, too.

 

Until now it seems Windows is a virus but there are fundamental differences: Viruses are well supported by their authors, are running on most systems, their program code is fast, compact and efficient and they tend to become more sophisticated as they mature.

 

So Windows is not a virus.

 

It’s a bug.

7 Action Steps to More Joy, Energy and Health

What if a few minutes a day could double your enjoyment of life?

Would that be worth it?

 

Who does not want more joy, greater energy and/or vibrant health?

 

It just seems like we have so little time in our modern world. “I don’t have any more time to add more techniques. I’m busy enough already. Besides, I’m doing OK.”

 

That’s why I put these 7 Steps together for you. A few minutes a day is all they take.

 

Plus you can start with just one at a time…even adding one per week for seven weeks can work wonders for your joy, your energy and your health.

 

  1. Intuit

 

 

  1. Prioritize

 

 

  1. Breathe

 

 

  1. Dream

 

 

  1. Be Mindful

 

 

  1. Love Yourself

 

 

  1. Celebrate

1) Intuit

 

Believe that the answers are within.

 

You have all the power, all the resources already within you to meet life’s challenges.

 

Guidelines for intuiting from The Zen of Joy:

 

“…there are 50 million bits of information coming at us every second…The conscious mind doesn’t stand a chance. We have been trying to operate in this world with both hands tied behind our backs…Never will we have all the information on which to base a decision. There are just too many variables, seen and unseen, for the conscious mind to take in, never mind sort out. It’s like a three-dimensional jigsaw puzzle that is constantly moving. More likely a four or five-dimensional puzzles in dimensions we don’t even know exist—all in constant motion

 

…ask a question of your subconscious. With the understanding that the subconscious is plugged into the infinite wisdom of the universe, anything we ask it, it can answer.  It does so by scanning, for want of better words, the infinite records of the universe. The records that are always there, but not open to the conscious mind.   A great way to do this is:

 

Just before falling asleep, ask: ‘…I ask for and am willing to receive the answer to this question: (state the question).  Thank for providing the answer for me. And it is done.’

Don’t be surprised… if you receive elegant solutions to some of the stickiest “problems” or situations in your life.  It has happened for many others. It can happen for you too.”

 

2) Prioritize

 

Getting answers to sticky challenges is a wonderful first step. We may however still feel overwhelmed by the many demands on our time. Welcome to the 21st Century.

It has become almost a badge of honour to be extremely  busy.

 

It is time to end the glorification of busy!

 

First, we need to recognize that overwhelm is an emotion. In reality, it has nothing to do with the number of tasks on our “To Do List.” It IS an emotion and as such it is possible to resolve it.

 

Second, recognize that the “To Do List” will NEVER be finished. Breathe and let it go. (We will address breathing in a few moments.)

 

Third, ensure you are addressing the most important items in your life. As Steven Covey told us in THE SEVEN HABITS OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE PEOPLE, the most important things are not always the most urgent. If we only do the most urgent things, we can find ourselves not focusing on what is important to us in our lives.

 

Here is one way. Use your intuition skill that you  are developing to identify what is really and truly important in your life. Then, once a week identify three things you can do to move forward with your important items.

 

Now, this is a critical point: ensure that those three things are do-able within one week. They may only be baby steps and better if they are.

 

Then, COMMIT TO DOING THOSE THREE THINGS, NO MATTER WHAT! COMMIT.

 

If you make them baby steps, it is easier.

 

Then, when you complete each one, CELEBRATE! We will shortly cover that as well.

 

 

3) Breathe.

 

Stay in the Present Moment

 

From The Zen  of Joy:

 

“The self-development literature tells us that when we hold our breath, we come out of the “present moment.” And all our power is in the present moment. Unless you have found some secret of time travel that the rest of us don’t know about, you cannot act in the past. The past is over. As much as we may want to go back and correct mistakes we made, we can’t go back in time and act. It’s the same with the future. We can’t act in the future. We can plan to act, but we can’t teleport ourselves into the future, not even one minute…

 

 All our power is in the present moment because it is only in the present moment that we can act. So, how can we increase our power?…

 

The answer: Be present. Live in the “Now.”  How many of us actually do that? “Well, I would if it was easy.” “It’s OK for some, but I have to earn a living. Do you know the pressures on my time? Work, family, taking care of the daily chores, fixing the leaky pipes … . It seems like I never get any time for myself. How am I going to find time to meditate?”  That’s why the Zen of Joy was written, for you to find the easy way to do this, to open up to the power that is available to us at every moment

 

How to make deep breathing automatic and unconscious

 

This is called The Pause Method.  Do it with me now:

Focus on the pause between the in breath and the out breath. Then, focus on the pause between the out breath and the in breath. During the process of inhalation and exhalation, there is a very slight pause in between the two.

 

See for yourself. Stop reading for a moment and notice your breath. Did you notice the pause? We are not to try to control the breathing in any way. And we are not trying to locate where in the body the pause is.  We are just noticing.

 

At first, you may do this for 5 minutes or so and you will notice a difference. You can work up to 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes in the evening. Even at the beginning, you may find one session has you breathing deeper and more relaxed for more than an hour afterwards.

 

The more you practice this, the more your ability to take a deep breath will increase on its own. Keep it up and you will soon develop an unconscious habit of deep breathing that will go on automatically. This is one of the easiest and most effective methods of learning deep breathing.  Give it a try.

 

 

4) Dream

 

Record Your Dreams

 

Have either a recorder or pen and paper handy on your night table. When you wake up, record what you remember of your dreams.

 

(Everyone dreams. If you believe you don’t, try this: Last thing at night before falling asleep, ask your higher self to remember your dream. Use the intuition skill you are learning.)

 

Trust that your higher self is creating dreams for your benefit. Reflect on them…just a little. Don’t get obsessed. Patterns may or may not emerge. Some “ah-hahs” may occur.

 

Have fun. Just remembering dreams can be fun. You may even look forward to falling asleep for the next instalment in the longest running comedy/drama “TV series.” And it is created just for you. Enjoy it more fully by recording it in your “dream journal.”

 

 

 

5) Be Mindful

 

Pay Attention. Work on/Play with Becoming More Aware

 

You may have heard about this latest catchphrase: “Mindfulness.” In fact, you may heard it one too many times.

 

If so, bear with me. Mindfulness is nothing more than unhooking from the overwhelm of emotions in the modern world. Also as the rightful death of an impossible concept: “Multi-tasking.”

Mindfulness just means “paying attention.”

 

We live in a world of distractions. So much is vying for our attention: Look, it’s raining…what’s the forecast? Look, terrorism, be afraid. Look, the latest virus to threaten human life on earth as we know it. Look, the world’s environment is falling apart. News is addictive and we can allow ourselves to be easily distracted by the “crisis of the day.”

 

If  you were to believe the media (and many do), we are ALWAYS on the eve of destruction. “The state of the world is desperate…as usual.”

 

We  can easily buy into “busy-ness” as our “Standard Operating Procedure.”

 

Mindfulness takes heed of the saying: “Nature never hurries, yet everything gets done.”

 

How do you expect to improve on Nature’s Standard Operating Procedure by hurrying?

 

Mindfulness is about paying attention. When you are walking, take note of how your foot and leg moves forward, note the pressure of the foot on the ground. Deepen that attention.

 

When you are washing dishes, put one dish in the drying rack before moving your attention to the next dish.

 

When you are sitting down, settle in and notice the movement.

 

Slow down. Trust that everything will get done. That’s how Nature does it. How do you think you can improve on Nature?

 

Slow down. Notice.

 

You can eventually speed up and still notice.

 

 

 

6) Love Yourself

 

Look in the Mirror. Say “I Love You, I Really Love You.”

 

Look in the mirror, look deeply into your eyes and while holding your hands over your heart, say: “I love you. I really love you.” Say for 20 seconds as one of the first things in the morning.

 

No one can love you more than you love yourself. Remember what we started out with?

 

”Believe that the answers are within. You have all the power, all the resources already within you to meet life’s challenges.”

 

We have been taught to search  for love outside of ourselves. The great secret is that love is within. This sounds easy, but it can be one of the most challenging things ever. Stay with it. Move through any uncomfortable feelings. Yes, it may be uncomfortable at first. You can choose to move through that discomfort.

 

“Love yourself first and everything else falls in line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.” -Lucille Ball

 

 

 

7) Celebrate

Celebrate EVERYTHING.

 

Something  else we have been taught is be hyper critical of ourselves. This is supposed to do what? Motivate us to do better? Does it do that? Or does is de-motivate us?

 

If a child receives constant criticism, what happens? The answer? We are human, if we get battered, the reaction is to shrink back, curl up in a ball. It is a natural defensive response.

 

If a child receives praise for getting something done, what happens? Does that child tend to blossom more than the one who is constantly criticized?

 

We have also been taught not to “blow our own horns.” That has some value, no question. However, if we combine that with constant self criticism, we can also shrink and curl up inside, just like the child.

 

Try this out. See what happens. When you do something right acknowledge yourself. Don’t poo-poo it just because it was a small thing.

 

From The Zen of Joy:

Whenever you have a “win,” whatever it may be, celebrate it. Now, the first thing is recognizing a “win.” A win is whenever we do something right. And guess what?  We do all kinds of things right all the time.  We have been conditioned to gloss over them and just notice our mistakes! We have even been conditioned to downplay our “wins” and feel uncomfortable when someone compliments us. Many of us even pooh-pooh our accomplishments, “Oh, that! That’s nothing…

This double whammy of pooh-poohing our own talents and skills and at the same time keenly looking for and finding our mistakes and faults means we are not living in good feelings or living in “the flow.”  Being “in the flow” is where the magic happens.  Feeling energized by praise for a job well done means we have the momentum to keep going and enjoy the process. Really enjoying what we are doing allows us to be more efficient, more effective and more productive at what we do. So, how do we get into “the flow?”  Celebrate All Wins!

 

You can start right now. Because you are reading this, you are in the small minority of people who are actually taking action to improve themselves. Most do not. Most want a pill to take or someone else to do it for them.

 

So celebrate that, right here, right now. Right now make a fist with your right hand (or left if it is the dominant hand).  Reach out and up with your fist, palm side up.  Bring your fist down and back to your side strongly and say, “YES!” out loud.  Do it again, even stronger.  What does this do?  It “anchors” the win, the feeling of accomplishment in your body.  It takes ownership of the accomplishment.

 

It means you are taking credit for your success.  You are praising yourself and rightfully so!  What else does this do?  By triggering good feelings in the body, it is now easier to move on to the next task at hand in a more positive frame of mind, or “state” of being or feeling in the body.  This helps to ensure you are bringing more of your abilities, skills and, yes, talents to bear on the next item on your list, to your next task, your next challenge.  Also, this gives you a “tool” you can use to power your way through the inevitable challenges you will face in the future.

 

How? The next time you feel fear and/or anxiety, you can use this action of fist pumping to release the fear and access the “winning state” in your body.  When next you feel fear or anxiety, simply pump your fist and say, “YES!” out loud again.  You will immediately access the previous successful or winning state in your body and be fully empowered to access your abilities, skills and talents on the fear-inducing challenge.

Bonus Step #8: Meditate

 

Two Minutes. Sit. Watch Your Breath. Daily.

 

We all the same number of hours, minutes and seconds in each day. Yet, how are some able to accomplish so much? Author Deepak Chopra has written 80 books in his career. As of this  writing, he is only 68 years of age. How did he do that? And how does he continue to do so?

He spends two hours every morning doing his meditation and other self improvement “stuff.” And still he has time to write 80 books over his lifetime. It took me 13 months to mine! (The Zen of Joy http://zenofjoy.com/ )

 

Can we stop to consider that perhaps it is BECAUSE he spends two hours meditating and “stuff” that he is so productive? Could it be that the state of mind he enters because of the meditation allows for more “flow” in his life? Could it be that meditation produces a deeper connection with our intuition? Could it be that allowing some direction from our subconscious through intuition, that we may find ourselves more productive as well?

 

From The  Zen of Joy.

“The word “meditation” may conjure up images of monks sitting in solitary caves in saffron robes and living simple lives with no possessions.

 

However, meditation is just a process to become more mindful and aware, to be fully present in the “now.” Past and future are concepts that live in the mind. Meditation allows us to feel the fullness of life energy coursing through our bodies, minds, emotions and spirits. Meditation is, therefore, a ritualized way of getting into a blissful state.

 

For me, it is a wonderful, joyous, blissful and ecstatic ritual. There are many different schools of thought on meditation. You do not need to become a “Meditation Scholar” to get benefits. You can choose the method you are drawn to and are comfortable with.

 

Here are two that I like. The first one is from Ho’Oponopono and it is as simple as can be. It takes little effort and can easily and relatively effortlessly be integrated into your daily routine.  The second one is “The Presence Process.”

 

The Ho’Oponopono meditation goes like this.

Sit comfortably. I like to think of a silk strand attached to the top of my head at the back suspending my spine. Visualize the individual vertebrae being like pearls suspended on a string.  Ensure a good posture that allows for relaxation of your muscles as much as possible.  Focus also on relaxing the muscles around the eyes, the mouth, jaw and neck.

Take a big breath and sigh it out. I find that a good preparation as it helps to relax the system even more.  You may choose to do protocol #1 to get connected to the Inner Smile.  Now, this is a series of 7 breaths. You may keep your eyes open or closed or, my preference, halfway closed, so I am still aware of my surroundings but not captivated by them.

 

Here is one way of keeping track of the number of breaths. Place your thumb on the end of your index finger for breath one. For breath two, move your thumb to the next finger. For breath three, the ring finger and breath four the pinkie. Start again at the index finger for breath five, six and seven.

 

Each breath consists of four parts.  Breathe in through the nose for a gentle count of 7, hold for a count of 7, breathe out for a count of 7 and hold for a count of 7. That is one breath.  Now the thumb moves to the next knuckle (the inner knuckle of the finger next to the forefinger) for breath #2. Continue until 7 breaths are complete.

 

It helps to have the Inner Smile in place, but is not essential as the Inner Smile can arise on its own during this process.  Your focus is on the breath.  This is an easy and gentle way to discover and or deepen your meditation practice.

 

You don’t have to in any way worry about your thoughts. Just let thoughts do what they do.  As you focus on your breath, you may find the “Witness.” The witness notices the thoughts but is not attached to them.  No need to go looking for the witness or wonder where it is. There is no need to do anything except breathe in the prescribed manner.

 

If you find your mind wandering and lose focus on the breath, be assured that this is normal and absolutely fine. It is important not to kick yourself for lack of focus. Just gently bring yourself back to noticing the breath.  It’s as simple as that.

 

The benefits of this meditation are its simplicity and its minimum requirement for any great amount of discipline. It calms your system and does it fairly quickly.  It also takes little time. That is one of the main factors in the Zen of Joy. The protocols all need very little of your day to practice and get the benefits.  Each breath takes me about 20 seconds. Therefore seven of them equals about 140 seconds, or 2 minutes and 20 seconds. Let’s call it 2 and a half minutes. Twice a day is 5 minutes.

It’s just too confusing.

It’s designed that way. That is exactly what they want folks to do.

The Biggest Scam in History?

“Climate Change” May be One of the Biggest Transfers of Wealth Ever

– Climate Change Alarmists create fear so they can manipulate the population

– The goal is the collapse of industrialized society

– IPCC members know there is no warming

– IPCC manipulates the data to prove their theory

– Weather forecasters can’t accurately predict next week’s weather so how can we believe computer models that claim to know what climate will be like decades from now?

– Modeling climate is impossible

– IPCC projections have all been wrong. We have cooling, not warming

– IPCC process is useless

– There are dangers and high costs to policies based on IPCC faulty science

Is it Joseph Goebbel’s “Big Lie” technique at work? You will remember Goebbel’s was Adolph Hitler’s Minister of Propaganda in the Nazi government of Germany in the thirties and  during World War Two.

The Big Lie technique goes like this: Tell a big enough lie loudly enough and often enough and most people will believe it.

The Global Warming Alarmists seem to fit that bill. Here is the game (and ’twas ever thus):

 

Create fear and you can manipulate public opinion to whatever end you want.

It is how and why the controllers start wars. War is a huge transfer of money from taxpayers (people) to the arms manufacturers (the controllers).

Create fear about Global Warming and you can also transfer money from people (taxpayers) to the controllers who set themselves up to receive grants, subsidies and contracts to battle this illusion of Global Warming.

 

Goal: Collapse Industrialized Society.

“If you don’t learn the lessons of history, you are bound to repeat the mistakes of history.”

Maurice Strong, a Canadian who created the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (the IPCC), did  so in order to collapse industrialized society. That appears to be the ultimate goal of the Climate Change Alarmists. Strong said this: “Isn’t the only hope for the planet that the industrialized civilization collapse? Isn’t it our responsibility to bring that about?”

He is quoted in Dr. Tim Ball’s book The Deliberate Corruption of Climate Science. Ball goes on to say: “How do you cause industrialized society to collapse? You cut off their energy supply. Fossil fuels drive the industrialized economies and CO2 is a byproduct. Show it is causing irreparable damage and you can demand alternative energy replacements.”

Ball points out that the IPCC, a United Nations organization, was created with the mandate to prove that Global Warming is caused by humans. Ball outlines how the IPCC members have used unscientific methods.

The scientific method, you will recall, is to prove something that other scientists can then replicate.

 

IPCC Members Know There is no Global Warming?

Ball contends that from the leaked emails, IPCC members knew and know that Global Warming does not exist and is not caused by humans. Their emails among themselves indicate they are fully aware but have conspired to create the fiction.

Ball: “CO2 is not causing warming of climate change. There is no scientific need to replace fossil fuels.” He goes on to say all the alternate sources are more expensive, quoting a US Senate report.

 

Peer Review Process Corrupted

Part of what distinguishes science is the vetting of scientists work by other scientists. A review by your peers. “Dr. Frederick Seitz…wrote in a reference to the 1995 report (The second IPCC report) ‘I have never before witnessed a more disturbing corruption of the peer-review process than the events that led to this IPCC report.'”

“Meanwhile the IPCC violated many scientific principles. As Green and Armstrong note:…’…We have been unable to  identify any scientific forecasts of global warming. Claims that the earth will get warmer have no more credence than saying it will get colder.'”

 

They Can’t Predict Weather Accurately for the next Week, How Can They Forecast it For the Next Century?

Climate is not different from weather. It is just the average of weather. Don’t you and I already know how difficult it is to forecast the weather? How many times have you joked with your friends about how the weather forecasters got it wrong? And the IPCC wants us to believe they have a crystal ball that tells us where we will be in 50 years or more? Hmph.

 

The IPCC Models Themselves Don’t Agree With Each Other?

Ball: “The IPCC takes the average results of some 22 computers and average them to produce an ensemble result. As Robert Brown, physicist at Duke University notes: ‘First–and this is a point stunningly ignored– there are a lot of different models out there, all supposedly built on top of physics, and yet no two of them give anywhere near the same results!'”

 

“MIT  meteorology professor and former IPCC member Richard Lindzen summarized the process: ‘It uses summaries to misrepresent what scientists say; uses language that means different things to scientists and laymen; exploits public ignorance over quantitative matters; exploits what scientists can agree on while ignoring disagreements to support the global warming agenda; and exaggerates scientific accuracy and certainty and the authority of undistinguished scientists.”

 

Global Warming is Worse Than Terrorism -Sir David King

Second President of the Czech Republic Vaclav Klaus in his book Blue Planet in Green Shackles, summarizes the problem:

“Future problems will not come from the same source. The ideology will be different. Its essence will nevertheless be identical: the attractive, pathetic, at first sight noble idea that transcends the individual in the name of the common good, and the enormous self-confidence on the side of its proponents about their right to sacrifice the  man and his freedom in order to make this idea reality. What I have in mind was, of course, environmentalism and its present stronger version, climate alarmism.

There is no scientific justification for any energy or economic policies designed to reduce greenhouse gases or stop warming or climate change. CO2 from human or natural causes is not causing global warming or climate change. Beliefs that it is are solely the product of the IPCC and their computer models, an agency and approach set up to mislead the world. Yes, as Sir David King said: global warming is worse than terrorism.”

 

Imaginary Hobgoblins

Does Global Warming Alarmism fit the bill?

 

Modeling Global Climate Impossible?

“The science is settled” is a phrase often used by the Alarmists. Well, first science is NEVER “settled.” Time after time, what we were told was true, turned out to be false. The sun circles the earth. The earth is flat. Science is uncovering new information all the time that reverses previous theories. So to say the “science is settled” is just silly. It appears to be a cynical tactic to shut down debate.

Ball: “I knew modeling global climate change was impossible; apart from the inadequate surface and upper atmosphere database, computer capacity was and is still inadequate. At conference after conference, I watched modelers bully everybody. Models are the most corrupt part of the CRU and IPCC fiasco, an exposure yet to emerge. They produced ridiculous ‘scenarios’ used to promote control through fear.”

 

“Wikipedia: The Missionary Wing of the Global Warming Movement.”

William Connolley of the CRU (Climate Research Unit) established himself as an editor at Wikipedia, according to Ball: “…he controlled all entries related to climate, climate change and the people involved. This included putting up false material about skeptics..”

Lawrence Solomon describes the activities: “All told, Connolley created or rewrote 5, 428 unique Wikipedia articles. His control over Wikipedia was greater still, however, through the role he obtained at Wikipedia as a website administrator, which allowed him to act with virtual impunity. When Connolley didn’t like the subject of a certain article, he removed it–more than 500 articles of various descriptions disappeared at his hand. When he disapproved of arguments others were making, he often had them barred–over 2,000 Wikipedia contributors who ran afoul of him found themselves blocked from making further contributions. Acolytes whose writing conformed to Connolley’s global warming views, in contrast, were rewarded with Wikipedia’s blessings. In these ways, Connolley turned Wikipedia into the missionary wing of the global warming movement.”

 

Name Calling Tactic: Call Skeptics “Deniers”

That lumps skeptics in the same boat at Holocaust Deniers.

 

IPCC Process “Useless”

Ball: “Some, such as Richard Lindzen, Alfred P Sloan professor of meteorology at MIT, participated–hoping to have reasonable scientific input but eventually gave up. There’s little doubt, Lindzen said, that the IPCC process has become politicized to the point of uselessness.

 

“Every Single Climate Prediction (Projection) the IPCC Made Had Been Wrong” -Tim Ball

“Use of circular arguments is standard operating procedure for the IPCC. For example, they assume CO2 increase causes a temperature increase. They then create a model with that assumption and when the model output shows a temperature increase with a CO2 increase, they claim it proves their assumption.”

 

A Children’s Exercise

“…Richard Lindzen (said)..the 2001 IPCC Report ‘was very much a children’s exercise of what might possibly happen’ prepared by a ‘peculiar group’ with ‘no technical competence.’ Maybe, but it achieved their political objective of isolating and demonizing CO2.”

 

The Big Lie

“All this was inspired by the principle–which is quite true in itself–that in the big lie, there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily.” -Adolph Hitler, Mein Kampf

 

Dangers of the Global Warming Lie

Ball: “The sad truth is none of the energy and economic policies triggered by the demonization of CO2 were necessary. The price paid even to date is incalculable and it will go on costing for too many people, especially scientists and governments, who built their entire careers around the falsehoods…

Because they applied politics to science they perverted the scientific method by proving their hypothesis to predetermine the result. They bullied, marginalized, and silenced skeptics for a while, but natural events contradicted their predictions…There are two major dangers of what was done.

1. The credibility of science, especially climatology will suffer badly.

2. Environmental issues will suffer because people will say you lied to us before why should we believe you now.”

 

Footnote

One of the ways the Alarmists dismiss Skeptics is to attack personalities, rather than the issues. They know they can’t win the debate on issues, so they focus on trying to find dirt on the messengers. Watch for that.

I Have More Humility Than You Do :-) Mastery Newsletter March 2, 2016

The director has me in her office and hands me the feedback sheets from participants at their intro sessions.

 

I thought I wowed them with my 15 minute talk about Laughter Yoga. After all, I used my Toastmasters experience to craft a wonderful, engaging, informative and interactive session.

 

Or so I thought.

 

As a Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher, I hold monthly “Laughter Wellness” sessions for InspireHealth

http://www.inspirehealth.ca/. They are a wonderful organization supporting those who face a cancer diagnosis.

 

My talk was intended to excite them about attending these sessions.

 

The first feedback form from one participant gave me a 5 out of 5. Great.

 

Then there were some 4s and 3s, even 1 out of 5. One comment said out of all the presenters, I was the worst and fell flat.

 

Oh dear, what did I do wrong? I had put many hours into preparing and practicing my talk.

 

On reflection, I had let my ego run away with me. I was trying too hard to wow them with my knowledge.

 

Had I simply done the normal Laughter Yoga session with a little more explanation thrown in between the laughter exercises, the result would likely have been far better.

 

Gulp. A dose of humility for your humble scribe. It is just so easy to get carried away by ego and not even realize it.

 

So there. Now I have more humility than you do. Ha ha.

How About Fighting Off Almost All Diseases With Your Mind?

Staying warm in shorts in sub zero weather?

 

– The “Iceman” can sit in ice and keep his skin temperature constant

 

– This skill may prevent most diseases

 

– This evolutionary potential is in every human body

The “Iceman”

That’s the nickname given to Wim Hof for his daredevil feats with cold

 

He has:

 

– Run a marathon barefoot and in shorts in minus 20 degrees Celsius,

 

– Climbed part way up Mount Everest wearing only boots and shorts.

 

– Set a Guinness World Record for sitting in ice for one hour, 52 minutes and 42 seconds…while his core temperature stayed the same.

” On 19 April 2012, an episode of the US television program Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files, featuring Hof, was broadcast.

 

Hof was tested against a member of the team named Austin, both sitting in a tank full of ice. Austin sat in the tank for about 20 minutes, with his surface body temperature falling to four degrees Celsius.

 

When he got out of the water, the other two team members used a heat camera to reveal that his surface body temperature was at about four degrees Celsius.

How we do it

 

Making a loan on Kiva is so simple that you may not realize how much work goes on behind the scenes.

 

Kiva works with microfinance institutions on five continents to provide loans to people without access to traditional banking systems. One hundred percent of your loan is sent to these microfinance institutions, which we call Field Partners, who administer the loans in the field.

 

Kiva relies on a world wide network of over 450 volunteers who work with our Field Partners, edit and translate borrower stories, and ensure the smooth operation of countless other Kiva programs.

100% of every dollar you lend on Kiva goes directly towards funding loans; Kiva does not take a cut. Furthermore, Kiva does not charge interest to our Field Partners, who administer the loans.

Life coaches are popular these days…seems there are many of them to choose from.

 

But what about a Health Coach?

-Naturopaths have all the training that your General Practitioner has and more on top of that.

-Toxic food like sugar can FEEL good because of the adrenaline the body produces when it recognizes a toxin entering the system.

-Even top athletes have coaches

-A naturopath, like a sport coach, can often see what we are too close to see ourselves.

 

I decided I needed one, so I interviewed a few naturopaths.

 

Now, I had some experience with naturopaths before. When I had NSU (Non Specific Urethritis) it was a naturopath who helped me.

 

NSU is an inflammation of the water works…the urethra. I had it for 7 years. The symptoms would pop up every year and every year I went to a doctor.

 

On the seventh time, I asked what is this thing that keeps coming back. The answer from my doctor at the time was: “We think it is one of 7 different viruses. We’re not sure. Just come back every year for your antibiotic.

 

Hmph.

 

That did not seem like any kind of long term solution to me. What? You don’t know what it is? Just resign myself to having it and getting antibiotics every year?

 

That’s when I went to see Dr. Kirkbride in Nanaimo. He gave me some electric heat treatment and a herbal tea to drink. He diagnosed it as a “touch of nephritis.” That is inflammation of the kidneys.

 

It took some weeks, but the symptoms went away AND NEVER CAME BACK!

 

This was an ah hah moment. So regular medical system doctors don’t know everything, eh? Interest.

 

This event initiated a multi-decade and life long study of the many aspects of health.

 

It’s been a wonderful journey, with lots of dead-ends along with lots more ah-hah moments. And always with more to learn.

 

And even more to unlearn. So much of what is thought of as common sense, often I have found the opposite to be true.

 

Here is one example and it is a tricky one to navigate.

 

Some times I hear someone say things like: I just pay attention to my body. It gives me feedback.

 

That seems to make sense, doesn’t it?

 

Here’s the problem. If we take in toxins, sometimes it feels good.

 

The process goes something like this. Sugar is a good example. White sugar is a pure chemical C12 H22 O11. Pure chemical, not a food.

 

The history of sugar as outlined in William Dufty’s landmark work SUGAR BLUES from the 1970s. One thousand years ago, Arab doctor would use sugar as the most powerful medicine of last resort. When all else failed to cure a disease, they would administer 2-3 GRAINS of sugar and the patient would rally.

 

2-3 grains!

 

How much do we consume now? Well it used to be around a hundred pounds a year per capita 100 years ago. With the advent of the Big Gulp, we are now around 150 pounds per person per year.

 

How many grains of this powerful drug are we taking? Make no mistake. It IS a drug and a very potent one.

 

There is lots of research showing its detrimental effects. I am sure you have seen some of that…including the obesity epidemic and the cancer epidemic…for cancer feeds of sugar.

 

We know that intellectually. We know sugar is no good for us, yet we continue to take it.

 

Number one…it is addictive because it lands in the same landing spots in the brain as heroin.

 

But…and this is the point of why we need to careful about “paying attention to my body…

 

When a foreign substance of any sort, like sugar, enters the body, the body, in its wisdom, recognizes it as a toxin and sends what are called macrophages to attach, encircle and eliminate it from the body.

 

So far, so good? Well yes, EXCEPT during the process of the creation of macrophages, the body also produces adrenalin!

 

And what does adrenalin do? Among other things it makes us feel good. We have energy coursing through our system. Of course we feel good.

 

So, we take in a toxin, our body’s macrophages attack the toxin, we get a shot of adrenalin and we feel good. So, we make the conclusion that the toxin is good for us.

 

Can you see how our mind can be tricked in this way?

 

This is where a health coach can come in and give us unbiased and researched information.

 

I, for one, know about this, yet have still been consuming too much sugar.

 

My new health coach is a naturopath, Dr. Kevin Jackson. He is giving me info that I may have on the fringes of my thoughts. He is holding it in front of my face and encouraging me to take action that will have long term health benefits.

 

Naturopaths, by the way, have gone through the same medical training as allopathic doctors. They have the same rigorous training for the same number of years. Then they study further to see how to use non-invasive agents and therapies to produce a more healthful, energetic and vibrant result for their clients, without the use of toxic drugs.

 

Look, even the best athletes have coaches. Tiger Woods has a coach.

 

Why would we not want to do the same? Our long term health is the beneficiary.

Smile, You May Save a Life. Mastery Newsletter January 27, 2016

There is a story about a man who decided to commit suicide by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.

 

He said to himself that is one person smiled at him on his way, he would change his mind. One person did and the man turned back.

 

Everyone has challenges in this life. We don’t know what burdens are being carried. Just a smile may brighten the life of that person walking toward you.

 

Do it for yourself first though.

 

One of the great secrets is that a smile creates endorphins, the feel good hormones.

 

We don’t have to have everything going well in our lives (when does it ever ALL go well?).

 

All we have to do is smile…the “duchesne” smile, where the corners of the eyes crinkle. That is enough to generate the feel good hormones and, guess what? We feel good.

 

The bonus, icing on the cake is that anyone who sees us may feel good as well. That is because of a phenomenon called “mirror neurons.”

 

When we see a smile, it brings up the same feeling in us and in the smiler.

 

Two reasons to smile:

 

1) It feels good, generates healing endorphins (yes, feel good hormones are healing) and

2) We might help ease someone else’s burden.

 

oh, and

3) You may get a smile back and that is a super bonus. Don’t expect it, but when it happens, it can warm the cockles of your heart.

Often cheap seed oils like sunflower are used to make fraudulent olive oil.

Up to 75 to 80% of oil labeled as Extra Virgin in the U.S. is not the real thing.

The “Agro Mafia” is making many times the profit on fake olive oil than on cocaine.

 

You first heard about this in Mastery Newsletter in March of 2014.

Now, CBS 60 Minutes program has reported on this travesty.

Your “Olive Oil” May Be Poisoning You…

 

Most “Extra Virgin” Olive Oil is Not Even Olive Oil

 

 

You buy “extra virgin” olive oil because you believe it’s healthy.

 

69% of the time, you could be buying something else.

 

Something that is “rancid, fusty and musty.”

 

Something that could be mostly soybean oil or peanut oil or canola oil or sunflower oil or any of a number of other cheaper oils.

 

In the well researched book Extra Virginity, The Sublime and Scandalous World of Olive Oil, author Tom Mueller points out that 69% of olive oil that is labeled “extra virgin” is not olive oil at all.

69% of Olive Oils Had…Flaws

 

“A recent survey of supermarket extra virgins performed by the UC Davis Olive Center, in cooperation with the Australian Oil Research Laboratory, revealed that 69 percent of oils tested had taste flaws such as rancid, fusty, and musty, which meant that they weren’t extra virgin oils at all, and had been mislabeled…similar findings were reached by Andreas Maerz in Germany, by CHOICE magazine in Australia, by the regional government of Andalucia, and by documentaries in Swiss and German television about extra virgin quality in those countries…Paul Vossen, a University of California oil specialist (says)…’I would say very seldom do we ever find one that passes as extra virgin…price is by no means an indicator of quality…The high-ticket items can be equally bad.’…

 

Market Awash in Counterfeit Oils

 

Mike Bradley concludes that ‘the market is awash in counterfeit olive oil to the point that most legitimate sellers have given up trying to sell the real thing to wholesale suppliers or restaurants. It is rare to find authentic extra virgin olive oil…even in fine restaurants that ought to know better. It’s nearly impossible in some localities…’”

 

More Money in Adulterating Olive Oil Than (there was) in Bootlegging

 

From Mueller’s book again:

 

“there is more profit in adulterating olive oil than there is in bootlegging. The practice of adulterating this oil has grown until it has become a menace to the honest importers in the trade.” –US Health Commissioner Royal S. Copeland speaking in 1922, two years into prohibition.

 

 

 

Systematic Corruption of the Olive Oil Market Continues to This Day

 

Over a number of years, Mueller’s research for the book took him all over the olive oil world, to Italy, Spain, Greece, and to the new world producers in California, South America and Australia.

 

What he found was a systematically corrupt network of growers, manufacturers, suppliers and retailers that has made the term “extra virgin” useless. Even the term “organic” is no guarantee that you and I are getting the real deal.

 

Good News: Healthy Olive Oil IS Available

 

There is a strong and vibrant movement underway of growers and retailers who care about the quality of the olive oil they produce and sell.

 

It IS possible to buy real olive oil and receive the anti oxidant and anti inflammatory qualities olive oil is recognized for.

 

The Bad News: Good Olive Oil Stings

 

“If an oil doesn’t sting at the back of the throat, it contains little or no oleocanthol.” (my bolding) If you are used to bland olive oils, the real deal may take some getting used to. The substances that give rise to the health benefits make olive oil bitter and sting at the back of the throat. If it stings to the point of coughing, even better.

 

More Good News: The Health Benefits are Awesome

 

From Mueller’s book again:

 

“ ‘A low incidence of cardiovascular disease, dementia, and certain kinds of cancer (my bolding)—these are among the central benefits attributed to the Mediterranean diet,’ says Gary Beauchamp. ‘Since the 1950s, people have accepted that olive oil, the main source of fat in this diet, is the keystone of the dietary regime.’ Some of olive oil’s positive effects stem from its monounsaturated fat profile, but, more and more, medical research suggests that the polyphenols and the other ‘minor components’ of olive oil, which constitute a scant 2 percent of its volume, are the main source of oil’s health benefits. These same substances give a high-quality olive oil its pepperiness, bitterness, and other prized sensory properties; in fact, the oil’s healthful benefits are directly proportional to the strength of its flavors, aromas, and other sensory characteristics. If an oil doesn’t sting at the back of the throat, it contains little or no oleocanthol. if it isn’t bitter, it’s low in tocopherol and squalene. If it isn’t velvety in texture, then it’s missing hydroxytyrosol.”

California Olive Ranch – good fresh extra virgin olive oil, mainly from the arbequina and arbosana cultivars, grown in super high density groves in northern California. Available at a wide range of stores throughout the US (see the store locator).  Note that their Limited Reserve is the highest-quality oil, unfiltered and from olives picked during the first 2 weeks of harvest (reviewed here).  “Everyday” is the company’s best-seller, with a flexible flavor profile.  Arbequina, Arbosana, and Miller’s Blend oils, part of the company’s “gold medal series,” have actually won more medals in olive oil competitions than COR’s other oils, thanks to their distinct flavor profiles.

  • Cobram Estate – extra virgin olive oil from a range of cultivars, grown in Australia with the medium high density agronomic model, which has won olive oil competitions including best of show at the 2011 Los Angeles County Fair. Available here:

  • Cost Plus World Markets nationally
  • Raley’s and Save Mart in northern California
  • Fairway in New York
  • QFC and Haggen in Seattle
  • King Soopers in Denver

  • IGA stores in Vancouver
  • Corto Olive – good, fresh super-high-density arbequina oil available at Costco (occasionally), HEB, Zabar’s under the Zabar’s label, Kroger as a specialty label called “Private Selection.” I profile Dino Cortopassi, founder of the company, in Extra Virginity.
  • Costco Kirkland Toscano – Kirkland is the Costco store brand. I’ve been disappointed by Kirkland Organic EVO (not to mention the “extra virgins” in multi-liter plastic jugs), but the Toscano signature oil is the real deal.
  • Lucini – a wide range of fine oils, led by the top-of-the-line Limited Reserve Premium Select oil. I quibble with the clear glass bottles, which impair the shelf life, but as long as the oil is fresh it’s first-rate, and is widely available across North America. See the store locator.  Lucini Premium Select is their finest oil, made on a a single estate near Bolgheri, in the Maremma region of Tuscany.  Their Estate Select oil is made from olives grown in various estates in central Italy; since it’s sourced from a wider group of farmers, it costs less.  
  • Oleoestepa – just entering the US retail market, this Spanish cooperative produces excellent oils at competitive prices. Keep an eye out for their oils arriving in shelves near you soon!
  • O-Live – available at stores across Canada, and in selected US stores (including HEB in Texas). See the store locator (which sources tell me isn’t always 100% reliable).
  • Ottavioand Omaggio – in terms of value for money, I don’t know better oils than Ottavio and Omaggio: a fine balance of fruit, pungency, bitterness that will appeal to a wide audience, at rock-bottom prices. Ottavio is available at HEB and Central Market, and Omaggio is available at Sam’s Club. (Note: In the past, Valco Enterprises, producer of Ottavio, and Axiom Enterprises, producer of Omaggio, have both supported Truth in Olive Oil. Read here for what this means.)
  • Trader Joe’s– 3 out of the 6 extra virgin oils I tasted in August, 2013 were the real deal.  One of these, the Premium 100% Greek Kalamata, was very fresh, spicy, complex at an extremely competitive price (1 liter for $8.99).  The California Estate Olive Oil was also a good choice, while the Premium Extra Virgin was decent and defect-free, if a bit uninspiring. The 3 other Trader Joe’s “extra virgins” I tasted were defective. (See here for details.)
  • Whole Foods California 365 – The Whole Foods store brand from California is good-quality extra virgin olive oil at a great price. In my experience, the other members of the 365 lineup are poor – an odd situation from a company like Whole Foods that preaches quality über alles.

As mentioned above, there are likely to be many more good supermarket oils not included in this list. Please suggest some, and I’ll try them out as soon as I can.”

Disappointment AND Excitement

  • Corruption of the olive oil market is disappointing. I felt like the carpet was being pulled from under me as I read Mueller’s book. At the same time, it is inspiring to hear of the many producers whose hearts are in the right place. It means that you and I, armed with this new information, can go out and get the real stuff. We can throw out the old and start getting some of the benefits of the Mediterranean diet.
  • Olive Oil is Anti-Inflammatory AND Anti-Oxidant
  • As you may know, inflammation is said to be at the root of all dis-ease. Olive oil is anti-inflammatory.
  • The “bad cholesterol” is only bad if it is oxidized. (My doctor, James Houston here in Victoria, agreed with me when I told him that). Olive oil, the real deal good stuff, is an anti-oxidant,
  • So good olive oil may protect against all dis-ease and against the effects of the ‘bad’ cholesterol.
  • Your Mission Should You Decide to Accept
  • If your current olive oil doesn’t have that pepperiness at the back of the throat, it doesn’t have the oleocanthol.
  • If your current olive oil isn’t bitter, it’s low in other healthy ingredients, namely tocopherol and squalene.
  • And if it isn’t velvety in texture, that indicates there is no hydroxytyrosol in the oil.
  • And if it has none of those, it may not be olive oil at all but any of a number of unhealthy and damaging vegetable oils.
  • Is it time to throw it out then and find a source for the real stuff?
  • I will leave it to your good judgement.

  • S. Good olive oil is “worth its weight in gold” as the saying goes. In my opinion, it is far more worthy than gold. Good health and great energy far outweigh material riches. You can always make money IF you have your health and your energy. But if you don’t have your health, money means nothing.
  • Therefore, I choose to pay the price for the real stuff. You wouldn’t put 50 octane gasoline into your car. Why would you put “50 octane or less” fuel into your body? Throw out the old stuff and get the real deal. You and your body deserve it.

  • Also: Save On Foods carries O-Live brand. Last price check $14.99 for a litre.

It IS tough reading. However, it seems as if it CAN make me a better person. Nails me to the wall, kinda.

 

See if you find yourself squirming while reading it. That’s probably a good sign.

 

These are the Six Points:

 

  1. The world only cares about what it can get from you
  2. The hippies were wrong
  3. What you produce does not have to make money, but it does have to benefit people
  4. You hate yourself because you don’t do anything
  5. What you are inside only matters because of what it makes you do
  6. Everything inside you will fight improvement

 

 

Main Lesson I got from this:

 

We need to be DOING something and that something needs to benefit others.

 

Great treasures and great joy flow from that. The more we benefit others, the more treasures and joy we will have.

  2. Oklahoma was the last U.S. state to declare Christmas a legal holiday, in 1907.f
  3. Mistletoe (Viscum album) is from the Anglo-Saxon word misteltan, which means “little dung twig” because the plant spreads though bird droppings.a
  4. Ancient peoples, such as the Druids, considered mistletoe sacred because it remains green and bears fruit during the winter when all other plants appear to die. Druids would cut the plant with golden sickles and never let it touch the ground. They thought it had the power to cure infertility and nervous diseases and to ward off evil.a
  5. Evergreens (from the Old English word aefie meaning “always” and gowan meaning “to grow”) have been symbols of eternal life and rebirth since ancient times. The pagan use and worship of evergreen boughs and trees has evolved into the Christianized Christmas tree.a
  6. Because they viewed Christmas as a decadent Catholic holiday, the Puritans in America banned all Christmas celebrations from 1659-1681 with a penalty of five shillings for each offense. Some Puritan leaders condemned those who favored Christmas as enemies of the Christian religion.c
  7. A Yule log is an enormous log that is typically burned during the Twelve Days of Christmas (December 25-January 6). Some scholars suggest that the word yule means “revolution” or “wheel,” which symbolizes the cyclical return of the sun. A burning log or its charred remains is said to offer health, fertility, and luck as well as the ability to ward off evil spirits.d
  8. Because of their pagan associations, both the holly (associated with the masculine principle) and the ivy (the feminine) and other green boughs in home decoration were banned by the sixth-century Christian Council of Braga.a
  9. The poinsettia is native to Mexico and was cultivated by the Aztecs, who called the plant Cuetlaxochitl (“flower which wilts”). For the Aztecs, the plant’s brilliant red color symbolized purity, and they often used it medicinally to reduce fever. Contrary to popular belief, the poinsettia is not poisonous, but holly berries are.f
  10. Christmas has its roots in pagan festivals such as Saturnalia (December 17-December 23), the Kalends (January 1 -5, the precursor to the Twelve Days of Christmas), and Deus Sol Invictus or Birthday of the Unconquerable Sun (December 25). The Christian church heartily disapproved of such celebrations and co-opted the pagans by declaring December 25 as Christ’s day of birth, though there is no evidence Christ was born on that day.f

Santa Claus is based on a fourth-century bishop from modern-day Turkey

  1. Santa Claus is based on a real person, St. Nikolas of Myra (also known as Nikolaos the Wonderworker, Bishop Saint Nicholas of Smyrna, and Nikolaos of Bari), who lived during the fourth century. Born in Patara (in modern-day Turkey), he is the world’s most popular non-Biblical saint, and artists have portrayed him more often than any other saint except Mary. He is the patron saint of banking, pawnbroking, pirating, butchery, sailing, thievery, orphans, royalty, and New York City.d
  2. Early illustrations of St. Nicholas depict him as stern, commanding, and holding a birch rod. He was more a symbol of discipline and punishment than the jolly, overweight elf children know today.d
  3. Puritan Oliver Cromwell outlawed Christmas celebrations and carols in England from 1649-1660. The only celebrations allowed were sermons and prayers.c
  4. Wassail is from the Old Norse ves heill, meaning “good health.”c
  5. Christmas stockings allegedly evolved from three sisters who were too poor to afford a marriage dowry and were, therefore, doomed to a life of prostitution. They were saved, however, when the wealthy Bishop Saint Nicholas of Smyrna (the precursor to Santa Claus) crept down their chimney and generously filled their stockings with gold coins.c
  6. There are two competing claims as to which president was the first to place a Christmas tree in the White House. Some scholars say President Franklin Pierce did in 1856; others say President Benjamin Harrison brought in the first tree in 1889. President Coolidge started the White House lighting ceremony in 1923.f
  7. President Teddy Roosevelt, an environmentalist, banned Christmas trees from the White House in 1901.f
  8. It is estimated that the single “White Christmas” by Irving Berlin is the best selling single of all time, with over 100 million sales worldwide.f

According to legend, he was so moved by the beauty of the stars shining between the branches of a fir tree, he brought home an evergreen tree and decorated it with candles to share the image with his children.f

  8. The earliest known Christmas tree decorations were apples. At Christmastime, medieval actors would use apples to decorate paradise trees (usually fir trees) during “Paradise Plays,” which were plays depicting Adam and Eve’s creation and fall.d
  9. Commissioned by Sir Henry Cole (1808-1883), British illustrator John Callcott Horsley (1817-1903) invented the first Christmas card in 1843.f
  10. According to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), there are 2,106 million children under age 18 in the world. If there are on average 2.5 children per household, Santa would have to make 842 million stops on Christmas Eve, traveling 221 million miles. To reach all 842 million stops, Santa would need to travel between houses in 2/10,000 second, which means he would need to accelerate 12.19 million miles (20.5 billion meters) per second on each stop. The force of this acceleration would reduce Santa to “chunky salsa.”g

How to Become Fearless

Unravelling the Root of Our

Conditioning/Programming/Brainwashing

 

Fear is the way the “Powers That Be” control us.

 

As long as we are in fear, we are disconnected from the source of our power.

 

Love is our power. Fear is the illusion that we are not pure love.

 

We ARE pure love. When we are triggered to believe/sense/experience fear, we can buy into the illusion that we are not powerful. Then, it is easy for the “Powers That Be” to manipulate us.

What are the “Power That Be?”

 

Could be governments who want to maintain their grip on power, could be corporations that want to sell us “stuff.”

 

If we believe terrorists are going to kill us and are fearful of that, how much easier is it for governments to sell us on the idea of giving up our liberties in order to have “security?”

 

If we have a deep seated insecurity (even and especially unconsciously) corporations can sell us “stuff” that they claim will make us feel more secure.

 

Examples abound.

 

If you make more money, you may have financial security.

 

If you live in the right neighbourhood, you may feel less threatened by crime.

 

If you buy this cream, you can cover up the zits that make you feel ugly.

 

The female beauty industry thrives on manipulating women to not love their bodies and thereby make Billions in sales of “Stuff.” Exercise programs, diets, beauty creams galore, botox, surgery…the list seems endless.

 

All because the Powers That Be found a way to disrupt our sense of self-love that allows us to view ourselves as the gorgeous, beautiful beings that we are.

 

 

 

How is the fear installed in us?

 

By shaking up and disrupting the first energy centre or “Chakra.”

 

“Located at the base of the spine, the pelvic floor, and the first three vertebrae, the root chakra is responsible for your sense of safety and security on this earthly journey.”

 

Once we no longer feel safe and secure in the world, it is so much easier for the Manipulators to do their job on us.

 

 

 

Solution?

 

Correct the imbalances in the first energy centre.

 

Get the sense of safety and security back. Then our view of the world can be more clear and we can live in the love and power that is our birthright.

 

Make no mistake. The Powers That Be, the Manipulators can and will and are moving heaven and earth to prevent that.

 

This sense of safety and security is a foundation for our personal development and is critical to fill our lives with contribution to others and to deeper meaning in life.

Another wonderful year drawing to a close. What lessons has 2015 brought? That is the question I like to reflect on at this time of the year.

 

☼ The importance of connection. Staying in touch with family, with friends supports and nourishes my health.

 

☼ Laughter and chanting are great ways to be more intimate with others.

 

☼ Daily laughter of 10-15 minutes is a great preventive of stress and stress release also.

 

☼ Stress is insidious. It lurks in us all in modern society.

 

☼ EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique is a great process for release of subconscious beliefs. It needs to be used regularly as deeper and deeper layers come to the surface.

 

☼ Asking the subconscious to release stress through afformations works well. AFFORMATIONS by Noah St. John is the book.

 

☼ Trauma Release through trembling works well. Again, needs regular practice. THE REVOLUTIONARY TRAUMA RELEASE PROCESS by David Berceli.

 

☼ Regular Yoga practice is a delight and useful. Just 10 minutes a day is great release.

 

☼ Meditation daily, even 10 minutes, works well.

 

☼ Keeping a regular schedule is useful for keeping elimination regular.

 

☼ Posture work from Esther Gokhale’s wonderful work 8 STEPS TO A PAIN-FREE BACK is just awesome and empowering.

 

☼ I need a health coach, at least one. Interviewing naturopaths over the next few weeks to see who I can work with as my primary health care provider. Though I will have to pay for the service, my health is worth it.

 

☼ My doctor is retiring, so I will have to search for a new allopathic doctor.

 

☼ Thankful, deeply thankful, for only having a few health issues and nothing major. Still, it is important to nip them in the bud so they don’t develop further.

 

☼ Intuition is important to listen to.

 

☼ Dream journaling could be quite valuable. Ray Davies of the Kinks rock group said that was and is how he writes his songs. He works at remembering his dream, staying in that state as long as possible when waking. That has produced some of the best rock songs.

 

☼ Energy work is available to us all. Just placing my hands on my stomach and thanking for healing my stomach and digestive system has fully eased any symptoms of my acid reflux. (Knock on wood)

 

☼ Hearing is critical. My new (cheap) hearing aid has created more clarity.

 

☼ The energy work and visualization has so far kept my eyes so I do not yet need reading glasses. Yay!

 

☼ The life I am leading is absolutely perfect as it is right now. I still continue to reach for more goals and my real challenge is fully appreciating all my blessings in this moment.

 

☼ I know movie makers manipulate my emotions. I don’t care. I love to laugh and cry in the same movie.

 

☼ Early to sleep is a challenge, but so worth it. It allows me to get up earlier as I am most productive in the morning.

 

☼ Nature never hurries, but everything gets done.

 

☼ I love to study and am devoting more time to it.

 

☼ Need to focus on making more income…sooner rather than later. I have some goals that need extra income. (Reaching for the stars)

 

☼ Important to release doing stuff that does not serve me, either in reaching goals or in having fun.

 

☼ Enjoying Toastmasters and learning from the process.

 

☼ NATUROPATHIC ONCOLOGY is a great work by naturopath Dr. Neil McKinney. Not only does it provide scientifically based info on dealing with cancer, but also great prevention strategies for cancer and all diseases.

 

☼ THE WAHLS PROTOCOL by Dr. Terry Wahls and PERFECT HEALTH DIET by Paul Jaminet and Shou-Ching Jaminet are the two health diet books that had have the most impact this year.

 

☼ TAPPING INTO WEALTH by Margaret Lynch is my introduction to EFT and having great fun with it.

 

☼ HOW TO GET OUT OF YOUR OWN WAY by my friend Kressa Kristina Sisu is a great way to keep on track.

 

☼ There is lots of support available. My friend Fred and I meet weekly on Skype and in person once a month to check in on each others progress. It is kind of like a brainstorming session and also a Master Mind session. Valuable as it is easy for me not to see some issues because I am so close to it. Always learn something about myself each time.

 

☼ Providing positive input and gentle suggestions on improvement works a lot better than criticism. Toastmasters meetings are great at this.

 

☼ Good sleep is critical. It is also one of the easiest things to skimp on. Need it more as I age.

 

Wow. What a list, I just realize. I can come back and view this whenever I think I am moving too slowly. Thank you for being there to write for. Makes all the difference.

P.S. What’s the catch, you may wonder. There doesn’t seem to be any. My experience has been great. No fees and no minimums to keep it open either. In fact, I have not used the account for a long time and it stayed open with just $1 or so in the account.

 

So, if you have no interest in having the account, you could just open it with $100 using my Referral Key and when they add your $50 bonus, you could take it all out, leaving just $1 to keep it open for future. You know, just in case you find a use for it…like transferring money between different banks. Works well for that.

 

They also have a no fee chequing account. I got one. Have not used it yet.

 

P.S. #2. Oh, almost forgot, I am going to sign up for their Mastercard. You can choose 3 different categories of spending and get 2% cash back on all those categories. My current Mastercard gives me 1% and I know American Express has a card that give 1.25% (or was it 1.5%?) At any rate, that is the most generous cash back card I have seen. They give 1% cash back on all other purchases.

 

I do like to receive money. (How about you?). With my current Mastercard, every once in a while I get a $50 cheque in the mail. Sweet. I am looking forward to Tangerine Mastercard depositing money into my account monthly, just for buying with their Mastercard. Sweeter. 🙂
