The director has me in her office and hands me the feedback sheets from participants at their intro sessions.
I thought I wowed them with my 15 minute talk about Laughter Yoga. After all, I used my Toastmasters experience to craft a wonderful, engaging, informative and interactive session.
Or so I thought.
As a Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher, I hold monthly “Laughter Wellness” sessions for InspireHealth
http://www.inspirehealth.ca/. They are a wonderful organization supporting those who face a cancer diagnosis.
My talk was intended to excite them about attending these sessions.
The first feedback form from one participant gave me a 5 out of 5. Great.
Then there were some 4s and 3s, even 1 out of 5. One comment said out of all the presenters, I was the worst and fell flat.
Oh dear, what did I do wrong? I had put many hours into preparing and practicing my talk.
On reflection, I had let my ego run away with me. I was trying too hard to wow them with my knowledge.
Had I simply done the normal Laughter Yoga session with a little more explanation thrown in between the laughter exercises, the result would likely have been far better.
Gulp. A dose of humility for your humble scribe. It is just so easy to get carried away by ego and not even realize it.
So there. Now I have more humility than you do. Ha ha.

If your definition of success has little or no measure of
love in it, get another definition. -Robert Holden
Superfoods are bullshit. Great article.
How not to get colds, according to author and researcher Raymond Francis. (Health is the true wealth)
Apple vs. the FBI
My “Spidey Sense” tells me if the FBI only wanted to see this one phone, they would accept John McAfee’s offer. Are they really after a back door into all phones? And if they get it, will that mean hackers will be able to see your bank details and clean out your account? I suspect so.
JOHN MCAFEE: “I’ll decrypt the San Bernardino phone free so Apple doesn’t need to place a back door on its product” http://www.businessinsider.com/john-mcafee-ill-decrypt-san-bernardino-phone-for-free-2016-2?platform=hootsuite
BOOKS WORTH READING
The Power of Why. Amanda Lang
MOVIES WORTH WATCHING
A Walk in the Woods. Popular travel writer Bill Bryson’s walk in the Appalachian mountains put to film. Stars Robert Redford and Nick Nolte. Nothing earth shattering, just a warm film with gentle humour.
In New Zealand, you can now get married in the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
Can Laughter Save Your Life? Laughter Yoga Dude Merv Neal from OZ says it did save his.
Merv Neal is a Laughter Yoga Dude from Australia. Super guy. I Met him at the All America Laughter Yoga Conference in 2014. Here is his story in a short documentary.
“Running his own small business at the age of 12, it’s no surprise Merv Neal became a millionaire at 40. Despite midlife financial success, Neal found himself bankrupt in the health department – given one week to live by doctors. For most, nihilistic despair would become the reasonable reaction to such life altering news, not for Merv though – he decided to laugh, and is convinced it saved his life.” http://plgrm.com.au/the-laughing-man
That’s it for now. Enjoy your month.
